Consultant International Projects / National Program Ethiopia (m/f/d) At Doctors of the World



Doctors of the World is the German section of the international humanitarian organization Médecins du Monde/Doctors of the World. Doctors of the World is committed to ensuring that everyone everywhere can claim their right to health – with medical help and political work.
Our “International Programs” department consists of a team of seven, which is responsible for the financing and administrative implementation of projects in the network as well as for the support of the doctors of the world e. V. is responsible for implemented humanitarian aid projects.

We are looking for a consultant for international programs to support the country program in Ethiopia with a focus on the Somali region (offices in Addis Ababa, Jijiga).

The full-time position (40 hours) is initially limited to 2 years with the option of a permanent contract. The location is Munich.

YOUR FUTURE FIELDS OF WORK

The job holder is responsible for the strategic orientation and content support of the national program (approx. 40 employees) of Doctors of the World in Ethiopia in coordination with the department head.

In particular, you will take on the following tasks:

  • Content (including strategic orientation) and financial support, coordination and monitoring of the country program of Doctors of the World in Ethiopia
  • Technical and disciplinary leadership of the country coordinator of Doctors of the World in Ethiopia
  • Application, contract management and processing of third-party funded projects in the field of emergency aid and development cooperation (especially the Federal Foreign Office, ECHO, BMZ pt,) including ensuring proper and timely internal and external financial and narrative reporting
  • Support in the processing of tenders and procurements in the project locations as well as control of procurement processes
  • Responsible for security management in Ethiopia
  • Reporting and information sharing between all parties involved
  • Advising the project teams and local partner organizations on project planning and implementation
  • Monitoring compliance with formal requirements and guidelines from public donors during project implementation (e.g. Federal Foreign Office, ECHO, BMZ pt)
  • Coordination/ coordination of the project in the international MDM network

YOUR PROFILE

Your professional profile

  • You have completed a (technical) university degree in a relevant subject or comparable relevant training.
  • You have at least 5 years of proven experience in the management of humanitarian programs; experience in the health sector in particular would be desirable; Knowledge of nutrition and wash sector would be an advantage.
  • You have management experience of at least 3 years.
  • You have project experience in humanitarian/DC contexts abroad.
  • You bring experience in the field of safety management of projects in difficult contexts.
  • You have experience with the development and implementation of program strategies, as well as application and contract management of institutional funds. Experience in processing AA/ECHO/BMZ project applications would be desirable.
  • Experience in working with network organizations is an advantage.
  • You have good computer skills (MS Office package, databases).
  • Your German and English language skills are business fluent; Knowledge of French/Spanish is an advantage.
