Orange collaborates with variety of national and international non-governmental organizations, as well as local initiatives to adopt community-based approach that leads to improve the response’s impact to the humanitarian crisis and provides sustainable and alternative solutions.

Job Purpose:

As a Counsellor, you will play a vital role in providing essential mental health and psychosocial support services to individuals and groups in need. You will be responsible for delivering SH+ (Self-help plus), PM+ (Problem management plus), and MH GAP (Mental Health Gap Action Program) interventions, both on an individual and group basis.

Duties, objectives and competencies:

Individual Counselling:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients’ mental health and psychosocial needs**.**
  • Develop individualized interventions plans tailored to clients’ specific issues and goals**.**
  • Provide evidence-based counselling, incorporating SH+, PM+, and MH GAP techniques**.**
  • Monitor clients’ progress and adjust the plans as necessary**.**
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records**.**

Group Interventions:

  • Facilitate group therapy sessions based on the SH+, PM+, and MH GAP programs**.**
  • Create a supportive and inclusive environment for group participants**.**
  • Encourage active participation and engagement within the group setting**.**
  • Manage group dynamics and ensure a safe space for sharing and healing**.**

Psychoeducation:

  • Provide educational materials and information to clients and their families on mental health topics**.**
  • Promote awareness and understanding of mental health issues within the community**.**

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, social workers, and other staff, to ensure comprehensive care for clients**.**
  • Attend the supervision and team meetings and case conferences to discuss client progress and treatment plans**.**

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of counselling sessions and client progress**.**
  • Prepare regular reports on program activities and outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field**.**
  • Experience in providing mental health and psychosocial support in humanitarian or crisis settings is a plus.
  • Knowledge of SH+, PM+, and MH GAP programs and their application**.**
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. ·
  • Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in a similar position.
  • Intermediate knowledge in PowerPoint & Word.
