Background
Center for Child Care and Human Development (C3HD) is a Child Centered and Women Focused (CCWF) non-governmental, non-tribal, non-religious and non-profitable organization established and registered with state in 2017 and later registered as a non-profit organization with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
C3HD was established to respond to the needs of the most vulnerable communities and especially women and children, people with disabilities and those affected by conflict and insurgency through maximizing contributions to Health care and wellbeing, Education, WASH, Gender, social and disability inclusions, Protection, Peace Building, and Economic recovery and Livelihood.
C3HD is striving for an all-inclusive community and human development for all, including populations who are marginalized, underserved or affected by conflict or insurgency, catering to their health and wellbeing. We have a mission of transforming the lives women and children on the edges of society and help them regain and pursue their dreams for sustainable development.
C3HD acts as an agent for change. For 5 years and in 4 states (Yobe, Borno, Adamawa and Kano States), we help women and children to overcome the massive problem they face through reducing inequality in accessing health services and education, responding to violence and exclusion,
promoting food security, empowerment, peace and resilience building of communities to be able to withstand and respond to future hardships. We employ “the protective communities’ approach” to our programming’s by mainstreaming safeguarding and protection in our activities.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of National Diploma, NCE or Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) with relevant experience.
- Certificate in Community Health, Public Health, Social Sciences, Nursing, or related field is an added advantage.
- Training in Health Promotion, PSEA, Safeguarding, GBV, First Aid, or Community Engagement is desirable.
Experience
- At least 1–2 years’ experience working with communities in health, protection, WASH, or humanitarian programs.
- Experience in community mobilization, risk communication, awareness creation, or outreach activities.
- Experience working with vulnerable populations, including women, youth, and internally displaced persons (IDPs).
- Prior work with NGOs, CBOs, or community structures is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of local context, language, and culture is essential.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular community sensitization, health education, and awareness sessions on key health topics (HIV, malaria, maternal health, nutrition, WASH, etc.).
- Mobilize community members to access facility-based services, outreach programs, and referral pathways.
- Facilitate group meetings, FGDs, and household visits to disseminate health information and address misconceptions.
- Support identification of vulnerable individuals needing targeted support.
- Refer clients from the community to the nearest health facility and follow up on referrals.
- Assist facility staff in organizing outreach activities, screening campaigns, and follow-up visits.
- Support documentation of community health activities and submit reports to supervisors.
- Raise community awareness on Complaint and Feedback Mechanisms (CFM) and ensure they understand available reporting channels.
- Promote PSEA (Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) messaging and ensure beneficiaries know safe and confidential reporting options.
- Identify community concerns and share them promptly with the MEAL team or relevant staff for action.
- Conduct community-level data collection (attendance sheets, referral forms, awareness activity logs).
- Report daily/weekly field activities, challenges, and emerging community needs.
- Support monitoring and follow-up of clients reached through mobilization.
- Participate in team meetings, training, and supportive supervision sessions.
- Collaborate with community leaders, women/youth groups, facility staff, and local organizations.
- Represent the organization positively during community engagements.
- Uphold organizational safeguarding standards in all interactions with community members.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect for beneficiaries’ dignity.
- Immediately report any safeguarding or SEA concerns through approved channels.
- Support emergency response actions when needed.
- Carry out additional responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.
