icddr,b, at Matlab maintains Health and Demographic Surveillance System (HDSS), one of the most comprehensive and longest-running longitudinal population data resources in the developing world. The HDSS monitors population exposure over time to derive health and demographic rates & ratios and assesses the impact of health and social interventions. Matlab HDSS is looking for a suitable (Female) candidate for the post advertised.

Key responsibilities:
The Surveillance Worker will directly report to the Field Research Officer and will be responsible for collecting HDSS data using TAB from Matlab HDSS area with the objective of conducting high-quality research within the guidelines of the research protocols and organizational values. The specific areas of responsibilities are detailed below:

• Visit households and collect health and demographic information, socio-economic and other study-related data through tab;
• Take written consent from the respondents for routine HDSS data collection;
• Participate in meetings with supervisor twice a month to exchange problems that arise in the field and seek solutions;
• Update all HDSS events in the Census Volume at Matlab Office;
• Conduct Verbal Autopsy (VA) interviews;
• Conduct pregnancy tests for the eligible pregnant women at household level and maintain records of tested results;
• Distribute ORS and Zinc Tablet to the community people and maintain record books accordingly;
• Extend support to different research studies.

Required qualifications and experience:

• HSC or equivalent.
• 1 year of experience in field research work and data collection preferably using TAB. Knowledge and experience in primary health care and doing pregnancy test will be added advantage;

Number of Positions: 01Contract Type and duration:

Short-Term; duration will be 11 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.Salary & benefits:

• 25,560/- month(consolidated), inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
• Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen.
