The Thomas Adewumi University, Oko, Kwara State, Nigeria, founded by De Crown Nigeria Limited, a private University licensed by the Federal Government of Nigeria in April 2021 is a non-governmental, non-partisan and non-sectarian institution. It is situated at Oko Irese, about 6 Km from Omu Aran, the Headquarters of Irepodun Local Government Area, Kwara State, Nigeria.

The University is established to be a Center of academic excellence committed to the achievement of accelerated development through research and manpower development. It seeks to relate its activities to the cultural, technological, social and economic needs of the people of Nigeria.

Job Title: Provost

Location: Kwara

The Position

• The Provost will provide strategic, academic, and administrative leadership for the new College of Medical and Health Sciences and will also serve as a Consultant at the Thomas Adewumi University Teaching Hospital, Omu-Aran.
• This is a unique opportunity for an accomplished medical academic to build a new college from the ground up, shape its institutional culture, and guide it toward full national and international accreditation.

Key Responsibilities

• The Provost shall provide overall academic, clinical, and administrative leadership for the College of Medical and Health Sciences and shall serve concurrently as a Consultant at the Thomas Adewumi University Teaching Hospital, Omu-Aran.
• He/she shall be responsible for developing the College’s Strategic Plan, establishing its academic and administrative structures, and driving the full accreditation of the MBBS programme by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
• Additionally, the Provost shall build a vibrant research culture, mobilise external funding through grants, gifts and endowments, and develop local, national and international institutional linkages. The Provost shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor.

Qualifications and Requirements
The candidate must:

• Hold a substantive professorial appointment in Medicine, Surgery, Anatomy, or a closely related health sciences discipline, with full registration by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
• Possess a distinguished record of clinical practice, academic scholarship, and postgraduate supervision, evidenced by sustained peer-reviewed publication and active consultant practice.
• Demonstrate proven experience in academic and administrative leadership, ideally at Head of Department, Dean, Provost, or equivalent level.
• Show a track record of, or strong capacity for, grant acquisition, institutional partnership building, and resource mobilisation.
• Present a clear and compelling vision for establishing and growing a new College of Medical and Health Sciences, including its accreditation pathway and teaching hospital linkage.
• Be of impeccable character, with the highest standards of professional and ethical conduct.

Duty Station:

• Thomas Adewumi University, Oko-Irese, Kwara State, and Thomas Adewumi University Teaching Hospital, Omu-Aran (and annexes).

Tenure and Remuneration

•  This is a contract appointment for an initial term of four (4) years, renewable subject to satisfactory performance.
• The University offers a competitive and attractive remuneration package commensurate with the seniority of the position and in line with TAU’s approved scale.
• The appointee shall enjoy other benefits of Office as may be approved from time to time by the Governing Council.
