Job Summary
- We are seeking an experienced Consultant Cardiac Surgeon to provide high-quality surgical care and support the development of a comprehensive cardiac surgery service.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and manage patients requiring cardiac surgical intervention.
- Perform major cardiac procedures, including CABG and valve surgery.
- Provide comprehensive preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care.
- Manage surgical complications and promote patient safety.
- Collaborate with cardiologists, anaesthetists, perfusionists, ICU teams, and other specialists.
- Develop cardiac surgical protocols and clinical pathways.
- Supervise and mentor junior surgeons and surgical teams.
- Participate in clinical audits, research, teaching, and quality improvement.
- Contribute to the growth and development of the cardiac surgery service.
Requirements
- MBBS / MD or equivalent medical degree.
- Fellowship in Cardiac / Cardiothoracic Surgery or equivalent recognized qualification.
- Current specialist registration and eligibility to practise in Nigeria.
- Minimum 7 years’ post-specialization experience in cardiac surgery.
- Proven independent experience in CABG and valve surgery.
- Strong clinical leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Commitment to patient safety, teaching, mentorship, and continuous improvement.
