How can you make a difference? Key functions/Responsibilities

The fundamental purpose of the Paramedic is to provide pre-hospital care and support in the emergency care of the field hospital, guaranteeing the safe transfer of patients and the operational availability of the assigned equipment and ambulance, in accordance with the Fundamental Principles of the International Movement of the Red Cross and Red Crescent.

He/she will be in charge of:

• Prehospital care: Provide first aid and initial stabilization to patients at the emergency site or during transfer.
• Patient transfer: Drive and support the transfer of patients by ambulance to the field hospital or other reference centers, as well as any internal transfers that are required.
• Emergency support: Assist the medical and nursing team in the care of emergency cases within the field hospital.
• Equipment availability and maintenance: Verify the operational status, cleanliness and basic equipment of the ambulance and the assigned medical supplies.
• Report and incidents: Timely inform the General Physician and the Health Officer about operational developments and service needs.
• Compliance with schedule and guards: Comply with opening hours from Monday to Friday (8:00 am to 5:00 pm) and with the role of on-call every four (4) days (including weekends for emergencies) with the right to immediate after-call.
• Adherence to principles and instructions: Comply with all policies, procedures, protocols, Code of Conduct and institutional safety and hygiene standards (PSEA, PGI, IFRC Safety Framework).
• Other functions: Perform other functions and responsibilities related to prehospital care and logistical-medical support assigned by your immediate boss.

Report

The Paramedic will report to the Health Officer and the Field Hospital Coordinator. You will technically coordinate with General Physician, Nursing and Logistics (maintenance of ambulances and equipment).

Workplace

La Guaira State (Field Hospital – Operation Earthquake).

To qualify as a builder of the Venezuelan humanitarian system you must meet the following requirements:

• Education: Certification as a Prehospital Care Technician (TAPH) or equivalent, granted by a recognized institution (Fire Department, Civil Protection, Venezuelan Red Cross or other certifying entity).
• Requirements and Licenses:
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) course.
• Current driver’s license in the corresponding category for driving ambulances.
• Experience: Previous experience in prehospital care, patient transfer, or humanitarian/emergency care settings desirable.
• Technical knowledge: Management of pre-hospital equipment, stabilization protocols, life support and advanced first aid.
