We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Consultant Anaesthesiologist

Location: Warri, Delta
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • The Consultant Anaesthesiologist will provide expert anaesthetic, perioperative, and critical care services, ensuring safe and high-quality patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-operative assessment and develop appropriate anaesthetic plans.
  • Administer and manage general and regional anaesthesia.
  • Provide intra-operative monitoring and post-operative care.
  • Manage emergency cases, resuscitation, and critical care support.
  • Provide anaesthetic support across surgical specialties, including Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Paediatrics.
  • Supervise and mentor junior doctors and other anaesthetic staff.
  • Lead and participate in clinical audits, quality improvement, and patient-safety initiatives.
  • Ensure anaesthetic equipment is functional, safe, and properly maintained.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with professional and regulatory standards.
  • Keep abreast of current developments and best practices in anaesthesia and intensive care.
  • Participate in clinical research, teaching, and continuous professional development.
  • Participate in on-call duties and departmental rosters.

Education & Experience

  • MBBS or equivalent qualification.
  • Full registration and valid practising licence with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
  • Fellowship in Anaesthesia (FMCA/FWACS) or equivalent recognized qualification.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ post-fellowship experience as a Consultant Anaesthesiologist.
  • Demonstrable experience managing complex anaesthetic and emergency cases.
  • Strong clinical judgement, communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
  • Experience in clinical audit, quality improvement, teaching, and research is desirable.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining a high standard of patient care.
