Focus on our activities in France

In order to meet the needs of people in precarious situations, Première Urgence Internationale continues its health mediation activities in squats and shantytowns and hospitals. The association has been active since 2012 in the departments of Seine-Saint-Denis and Val-de-Marne. Health mediation and linguistic interpreting aim to improve access to rights, prevention and care for people who are far from prevention and care systems, taking into account their specificities. Faced with the influx of migrants in Ile-de-France, the mission launched its Rapid Response Mechanism project in 2017.

And the Health Mediator in all this?

As a Health Mediator, you will promote access to health care and the health rights of the people followed, within the framework of health mediation activities and by exchanging and collaborating with various public and private actors in the health sector. health in a logic of network animation.

To this end, your responsibilities will be as follows:

Information, guidance and support for the target population: You will identify the needs in health law and access to care of the people being monitored as well as the priority needs in health mediation. You will facilitate, in connection with the structures of common law, the course of care and access to the rights of the people followed by accompanying them towards the dedicated services. You will design, organize and lead collective information and prevention actions. You will participate in hospitals in a permanence to facilitate the link between people and dedicated internal services.

External coordination: You will inform externally about the health mediation approach carried out by the association. You will update a map of common law territorial health networks and participate in the coordination of the partnership network, the sharing of information and expertise, the capitalization of good practices. You will design and lead information actions aimed at professionals and the target population. You will participate in the implementation of tools allowing better management of the target population by common law structures.

Internal coordination: You will be on the lookout for laws, reforms and concrete applications, particularly in terms of access to personal care. You will participate in the collection and analysis of data in the field and identify / collect blocking situations. You will design and update tools for monitoring health mediation activities and produce a weekly summary of activities and a monthly analysis. You will participate in writing intervention reports, analyzing the needs of the target population, reviewing the operational strategy and developing new projects.

The challenges that await you:

– Frequent trips to 91; – Strong coordination with the associative fabric of 91; – Major local advocacy issues.

What it will take to succeed

  • Training: You can provide proof of training in health mediation, medical or paramedical training and/or training in the social field.
  • Experience: You have a professional experience of at least 6 months in the medical and/or social sector or in health mediation.
  • Skills: Do you know the health and social protection system in France? Do you have a good knowledge of and/or a strong interest in populations in very precarious situations (living in slums in particular)? Do you have knowledge and/or an interest in maternal and child health, mental health and psychosocial support? This position is for you!
  • Required qualities: You are curious, open-minded and with a great desire to learn. You show good interpersonal skills, an ease of communication, both written and oral, and you have a taste for teamwork. You have a great ability to listen as well as a recognized relational quality. You show rigor, organization and a spirit of synthesis as well as reactivity and adaptability. You are a diplomat and you have an excellent resistance to stress and an ability to manage conflicts.
  • Languages: Do you speak French fluently? It is essential for this position!

PUI will suggest you

  • Status: Employee
  • Salary: 2,350.00 – 2,500.00 gross monthly over 12 months (depending on experience)
  • Medical coverage: 80% of the Health and Welfare mutual fund
  • Support: Support for 50% of the transport ticket and 60% of the Restaurant Tickets (with a face value of €9)
  • Rest : 5 weeks of paid vacation per year + 1 RTT per month (37h/week)
