JOB SUMMARY

The Medical Officer will implement and develop medical processes at all MedGlobal medical activities in Ecuador. The Medical Director works closely with the CAM Coordinator in Guayaquil and with the Logistics and Procurement Officer for all other medical activities outside CAM.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review the medications list and adjust based on clinical cases at the CAM and Mueve Medical Brigades. This to be done in partnership with the CAM Coordinator.
  • Review the Medical Record filing process in accordance with the local health authorities/MOH.
  • Prepare a monthly report of the consultations per service at CAM, Mueve medical brigades, and MedGlobal RMM identifying the most frequent diagnosis, and classifying the information based on demographics. (General medicine, nutritional consultations, diagnosis).
  • Establish a disease surveillance method for the CAM.
  • Prepare a quarterly report on the indicators of public health events seen at the clinic, Mueve medical brigades, and MedGlobal RMM.
  • Make a list of patients and classify them by medical risk as appropriate.
  • Conduct active monitoring of patients identified with medical risk (chronic diseases).
  • Coordinate with the CAM Coordinator the implementation of health education activities.
  • Ensure the implementation of local Ecuador medical protocols at the CAM, Mueve Brigades and MedGlobal RMM. Adapt when needed.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  • Assess the operation of the health projects under their responsibility.
  • Guarantee the objectives defined in the project.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years of experience supporting clinical processes, implementation of health projects, health reporting programs, medical consultations, and others.
  • Knowledge and experience applying local clinical guidelines.
  • Previous NGO work.
  • Experience with migrant and refugee populations.
  • Teamwork.
  • Working under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Detailed oriented.
  • Ability to keep superiors informed about project updates and progress.
  • Ability to work independently, quickly, problem solve, anticipate challenges, and handle data with confidentiality.
  • Strong skills working with a variety of systems and technologies, including but not limited to Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Excel, and Adobe PDF.
