Know our Team
Nutrition International promotes an evidence-based approach to advocacy, decision making, multi-sectoral country planning, and the setting of nutrition agendas. The Global Technical Services (GTS) Unit is Nutrition International’s Centre of Technical Excellence. The GTS Unit, based in Ottawa, leads on the quality assurance of and technical support to Nutrition International’s research and programs to influence and improve national and global policies and practice. Currently, Nutrition International is seeking applications for a Technical Advisor, Anemia to be based in Ottawa, Canada.
About the Role
As a member of NI’s Centre of Technical Excellence, the Technical Advisor will support GTS in addressing anemia to strengthen NI’s position as a thought leader and partner of choice for governments, donors, and coalitions at global, regional, and local levels. This role will also support the VP, GTS and Practice Area Director, Research, Data & Analytics in streamlining communication and collaboration between teams at NI working on interventions that address anemia.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support NI’s thought leadership on anemia in women and children, contributing to global guidance and anemia gap map development.
- Coordinate cross-unit efforts to combat anemia, linking GTS subunits, Anemia Actions Alliance, and external partners.
- Provide technical assistance in data analytics, analyzing anemia data, and generating reports for internal and external use.
- Assist in gathering and synthesizing evidence for NI’s anemia interventions, supporting implementation and evaluation.
- Be adaptable and take on additional responsibilities as needed within the scope of work.
About you
Candidates for this role should possess an advanced degree in fields such as nutrition, health sciences, international development, public health, or related disciplines. Furthermore, ideal applicants should demonstrate two to four years of relevant experience in nutrition, international development, and/or public health. A strong understanding of international development and public health issues is also essential for success in this position. Preference will be given to candidates with prior knowledge and/or experience in the subject area of anemia and interventions designed to address anemia.
Additionally, prospective candidates should be aware that this role may involve international travel to regions such as North America, sub-Saharan Africa, and Southeast Asia. While duty travel is typically limited to 1-2 weeks per trip, it should be noted that the total annual travel is generally not expected to exceed 20 days.
As this position has in-office requirements, the preferred candidate is expected to be based within a commutable distance from Nutrition International’s headquarters in Ottawa.
