Job Summary
- We are seeking a skilled and motivated Cardiac Surgeon Assistant to support the Consultant Cardiac Surgeon in the assessment, surgical management, and postoperative care of patients undergoing cardiac procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with preoperative assessment and preparation of patients.
- Review clinical records, investigations, imaging, and laboratory results.
- Assist the Consultant Cardiac Surgeon during cardiac surgical procedures.
- Prepare surgical instruments, equipment, and materials for procedures.
- Support postoperative patient care in collaboration with the Cardiac ICU and clinical teams.
- Monitor patients and promptly escalate complications when identified.
- Participate in ward rounds and multidisciplinary cardiac case discussions.
- Maintain accurate clinical and surgical documentation.
- Support clinical audits, quality improvement, teaching, and service development.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and hospital policies.
Requirements
- MBBS/MD or equivalent medical degree or relevant surgical qualification.
- Current professional registration, practising licence, and relevant professional certification.
- Minimum of 3 years’ relevant clinical or surgical experience.
- Proven experience working within a structured healthcare environment.
- Experience in cardiac surgery, critical care, perioperative services, or other specialized healthcare settings is highly desirable.
- Strong clinical assessment, communication, and technical skills.
- Ability to work effectively in an operating theatre and multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
- Good understanding of perioperative and postoperative patient care.
- Strong commitment to patient safety, professionalism, and continuous learning.
- Candidates with relevant experience in biomedical engineering or other specialized healthcare/technical environments may also be considered, where applicable to the position.
