Role objective:
The Community Health Coordinator (CHW) will supervise the Community Health Volunteer Program that will be implemented by Medical Teams International in response to the Venezuelan migration crisis in Colombia.
This position is responsible for the strong coordination of all community-level engagement and project activities, and for working with the Health Systems Strengthening (HSS) Coordinator to ensure efficient linkages with clinical services offered by Medical Teams. . International .
The Community Health Coordinator (CHW) also supports coordination efforts with other local stakeholders, ensures strong relationships with community leaders, and responds to any safety or other risks in the work of Medical Teams.
Essential Duties:
- Promote the vocation and values ​​of MTI.
- Supervise the Community Health program in the cities of Cali, Turbo and all its activities in the prioritized communities, including the activities of community volunteers (CHV), Volunteer supervisors, training for CHV and the coordination of referral activities to projects allies of Medical Equipment.
- Implement community participation strategies with the target population that promote the achievement of goals in health promotion and integration of the migrant population and the host population according to the logical framework of the program.
- Ensure all logistical and financial needs of the CHV program are met and follow FOM guidelines, including proper management and accountability of equipment, payments and supplies provided to CHVs.
- Maintain quality assurance and compliance with CHV protocols ensuring compliance with local and international Ministry of Health standards.
- Ensure that data collection meets program requirements and that all activities are properly documented.
- Ensure that CHVs are adequately monitored and evaluated by supervisors and that the results and impact of the program can be reported.
- Manage data extraction and analysis of data sent by the CHV program.
- Ensure that CHV supervisors regularly collect technical and progress reports on CHV activities.
- Coordinate and supervise all community-level data collection activities, including enumerator management.
- Assess, design and implement appropriate training to equip and strengthen the knowledge and skills of CHV staff, including appropriate security management (ensure CHVs adhere to security guidelines on site and when traveling to CHW locations).
- Ensure the protection of program participants and employees by promoting an environment of awareness and compliance with the provisions of the code of conduct policies for the protection of medical equipment against sexual exploitation and abuse, protection of children and vulnerable adults . and harassment-free workplace policies.

- Contribute to budget development of the CHV program
- Support CHV supervisors to observe FOM regulations and procedures

Education, Certifications
required
- Professional Nurse, Specialist in careers focused on Public Health or relevant field
- Certification accredited by Institutions recognized by the Ministry of Education
- Social science professional (Psychologist, sociologist, Social Worker, Anthropologist or related)
- Current Rethus Certification
experience
- Minimum three years’ experience in similar positions, especially in the international NGO sector
- Experience in the National Health System
- Experience working for projects related to the Public Health Sector, community health programs and projects with community participation strategies.
Knowledge, Competences, Abilities
Knowledge:
- Extensive knowledge of the Colombian Health System
- Demonstrable knowledge of CHW program approaches
- Knowledge of participatory community health approaches.
- Knowledge of participatory TSC training approaches
- Extensive knowledge of behavioral changes in Health and its approaches.
- Intermediate knowledge of English will be an advantage.
Competencies:
- Significant professional experience working at the TSC supervisory level for an international NGO, government or private sector.
- Strong commitment to capacity development of national staff and partners willing to adopt participatory and consultative approaches.
- Competence in basic data management and epidemiological analysis.
- Experience in data analysis and reporting.
- Technical report writing skills
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching.
