Job Title: Consultant, Family Physician
Location:Â Victoria Island, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care:
- Diagnose & Treat: Assess, diagnose and manage acute illnesses like malaria, infections, injuries, and chronic conditions like hypertension, diabetes, asthma
- Preventive Care: Conduct health screenings, immunizations, antenatal/postnatal care, family planning, well-child visits, and routine check-ups
- Procedures: Perform minor office procedures such as wound care, suturing, joint injections, Pap smears
- Emergency Care: Stabilize and manage urgent cases before referral
Patient & Family Management:
- Provide patient education on lifestyle, nutrition, disease prevention, and medication adherence
- Offer counseling on mental health, family planning, and chronic disease management
- Maintain continuity of care for entire families across different life stages
Documentation & Coordination:
- Maintain accurate EMR/medical records, prescriptions, and referral notes
- Coordinate care with specialists, labs, radiology, pharmacy, and other departments
- Make appropriate referrals and follow up on patient outcomes
Quality & Compliance:
- Adhere to hospital/clinic protocols, medical ethics, and infection control standards
- Participate in CME, audits, and quality improvement initiatives3.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: MBBS/MBChB from a recognized institution
- License: Valid practicing license with Medical & Dental Council of Nigeria
- Experience: 10-12+ years post-NYSC. Residency/Fellowship in Family Medicine is an advantage
- Skills: Strong clinical judgment, communication, empathy, EMR proficiency, and ability to work in a team
