CRf intervention in the area

The Democratic Republic of Congo, the second largest country in Africa, is now home to more than 90 million inhabitants. A population that is growing sharply and facing a prolonged multi-sector crisis. The challenges are immense, both at the epidemiological level, access to water, sanitation and health, and in terms of protection or food insecurity.

The French Red Cross has been operating in the DRC since 1979 as part of a partnership with the Red Cross of the Democratic Republic of Congo (CRRDC). From the 2000s, the CRf has had a delegation (permanent office) in Kinshasa, and mainly carries out health projects in the former Bandundu. From 2018, the organization is intensifying its interventions, with projects focused on the Prevention and Control of Infections (PCI) of epidemiologic diseases, Water Hygiene and Sanitation (WASH) measures and support for staff and health centres .
