THE ALIMA SPIRIT: ALIMA’s purpose is to save lives and care for the most vulnerable populations, without any identity, religious or political discrimination, through actions based on proximity, innovation and the alliance of organizations and individuals. ALIMA promotes and defends the principles of fundamental human rights. ALIMA has a zero-tolerance approach towards people guilty of acts of gender-based and sexual violence as well as towards inaction in the face of alleged or proven acts of violence. Protecting those benefiting from and impacted by our intervention is our top priority in everything we do. Anyone collaborating with ALIMA undertakes to:
- Respect the charter, the code of conduct, institutional policies including the protection policy against abuse of power and sexist and sexual violence, the corruption and fraud prevention policy

CARE – INNOVATE – TOGETHER:
Since its creation in 2009, ALIMA has reached more than 18 million beneficiaries in 15 countries, mainly in Africa. In 2024, we developed 59 humanitarian medical response projects to meet the needs of populations affected by conflicts, epidemics and extreme poverty. All of these projects support national health authorities through health structures (including hospitals and health centers). Our action results from constant adaptation to realities on the ground and advances in medicine. In 2024, ALIMA reached 5.9 million beneficiaries. We work in partnership, particularly with local NGOs, whenever possible to ensure that our patients benefit from expertise where it is found, whether in their country or in the rest of the world.Furthermore, to improve the humanitarian response, we carry out operational and clinical research projects, particularly in the field of the fight against malnutrition and viral hemorrhagic fevers
OUR PROJECT THEMES: Malnutrition, Sexual and reproductive health including gender-based violence, Primary and secondary health, surgery, pediatric care, killer diseases such as Malaria, AKI, Diarrhea, Epidemics (Hemorrhagic fevers, meningitis, Cholera, Measles, Dengue, Covid-19).
ALIMA TEAM:more than 2000 people currently work for ALIMA. The field teams, as close as possible to patients, receive their support from coordination teams generally based in the capital of the countries of intervention. These receive support from the 4 desk teams and the emergency and opening department team based at the operational headquarters in Dakar, Senegal. The Paris and New York teams are actively working on fundraising and representing ALIMA. The rest of the ALIMA Galaxy includes individuals and partner teams who work on behalf of other organizations such as the medical NGOs BEFEN, ALERTE Santé, SOS Médecins /KEOOGO, AMCP-SP, Demtou, the research organizations PACCI, INSERM, INRB, the Universities of Bordeaux or Copenhagen, the NGO Solidarités International and many others.
**OUR COUNTRIES OF INTERVENTION:**Mali, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, Nigeria, Niger, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Guinea, South Sudan, Mauritania, Senegal, Sudan and Haiti.
ALIMA in CAR
Since its creation in 2009, ALIMA has led humanitarian interventions focused on health. Present in the Central African Republic (CAR) since 2013, the organization develops activities focused on the medical-nutritional care of children, reproductive health, primary and secondary health care, response to epidemics as well as operational research.
With its 15 years of experience in humanitarian medical action, including in the CAR, the organization relies on both the expertise of international professionals and that of local staff in order to effectively respond to the needs of populations.
ALIMA also has solid experience in strengthening healthcare provision in CAR, both at primary and secondary level.
The CAR has nearly 6 million inhabitants spread across 35 health districts and more than 1,000 health facilities. ALIMA provides support to populations affected by armed conflicts, natural disasters and epidemics. The organization intervenes in the fields of health and nutrition in areas affected by humanitarian and security crises, having significant consequences on the nutritional status and access to care of vulnerable populations.
To date, ALIMA is present in six health districts (Haut-Mbomou, Berberati, Carnot, Gamboula Batangafo-Kabo and Bouca) and supports more than 20 health facilities as well as two hospitals (Zémio secondary hospital and the district hospital of Bouca).
FUNCTIONAL AND HIERARCHICAL LINKS

- Supervises the pharmacy managers/supervisors of the projects and the central pharmacy and, in turn, the stock managers
MISSION AND MAIN ACTIVITIES
The Country Pharmacies Manager is responsible for needs analysis in medicines and medical equipment, and watches over quality products used and their availability on ground. He is the
- Guarantor of the proper management of medications throughout the mission
- Bridge between our activities and drug issues linked to national pharmacy policies
- Responsible for strengthening the HR skills of our pharmacies as well as those of the supported health structures
- Responsible for defining the drug circuit in accordance with donor requirements
- General supervision of pharmacies Country
- Provide technical support in the organization of distribution units (central and/or project stock) and consumption units: layout of premises, storage and classification of products, storage conditions, hygiene…
- Implement and supervise the appropriate use of pharmacy management and monitoring tools (stock sheets, order sheets, Saga Stock, Saga Stock reporting, etc…).
- Provide technical support and ensure good management of distribution and consumption units: entries, exits, receptions, deliveries, stock rotations, consumption, expiration dates, theoretical and physical inventories, expired medications, etc.
- Ensure regular checking, completion/filling and emergency trunks/kits.
- Ensure that temperature, humidity and light exposure are appropriate for medications in the pharmacy, following standard procedures.
- Ensure that the cold chain is held in place, according to ALIMA standards.
- Ensure monthly monitoring of stock status (risk of shortage, shortage, overstock, dormant stock, near-expiration products, inventory discrepancies) and provide feedback from monthly pharmacy reports to medical coordination
- Travel regularly to projects to ensure supervision and monitoring of pharmacy-related activities in the field
- Train staff in charge of pharmacy management on the knowledge and management of medications, materials or items commonly used or ordered by project stocks.
- Management of the supply of medicines and equipment
- Ensure the existence and proper functioning of a supply circuit for medicines and medical equipment (procedures, schedules, etc.)
- Develop internal medical orders: both in terms of periodicity (taking into account geographical, security, operational and financial constraints) and needs (based on average monthly consumption analyzed with stock rotations and epidemiological factors).
- Guarantee a clear and coherent distribution circuit/system between the different units (distribution /consumption), including the assignment of responsibilities among the personnel involved.
- Encourage interdepartmental communication and exchange of information regarding the state of Central stocks and on projects, pharmacy management and monitoring of activities, for better management and use of medical stock.
- Collect and record all data and indicators for mission reports (monthly, quarterly, annual).
- Ensure the monitoring of actual and theoretical consumption (according to Saga Stock) and in the development, consolidation, planning and monitoring of international medical orders, including the budgeting part with finances and logistics, as well as take the necessary measures during delays in delivery, risks of stock shortages, etc.
- Prepares import authorization requests (products requiring one) and supervises obtaining them from national authorities and assists logistics, if necessary, in customs clearance procedures for medical orders.
- Ensures that the final version of orders is transmitted to the field (deadlines, quantities, etc…).
- Ensure monitoring of current orders (reception, backorders).
Management of distribution units (central pharmacy, project pharmacies)
- Ensures the correct storage and identification of items according to ALIMA standards.
- Monitors storage conditions according to ALIMA standards (hygiene, temperature, ventilation, storage, safety), special attention given to dangerous products, those requiring a cold chain and narcotics.
- Ensures the correct use of stock sheets (entries/exits/inventories/signature on each line etc…).
- Supervises and/or participates in regular physical inventories (each quarter/before the end of lessor contracts /and always before order preparation) which are complete and mandatory.
- Establishes an inventory report (with initialed and archived copy) after each complete inventory and takes the opportunity to add value to the stock.
- Constantly monitor products with an expiration date of less than 6 months, produce a report to Medical Coordination and make proposals.
- Ensure constant updating of
- the register of psychotropic drugs and narcotics
- the register of expired products
- Monthly monitor donations, loans and repayments of products between projects or to third parties.
Ensure monitoring of item expiration dates, completion status and rotation of emergency trunks, first aid kits and pharmacies in offices and/or expat homes according to the respective pre-established frequency.
- Stay properly informed about national import regulations as well as any possible changes to procedures.
- Know national standards for the destruction of perishable medical items and advocate for compliance with international standards.
- Communicate regularly with logistics, administration and finance on medical procurement.
- Set up the information, validation and reporting circuit within the medical supply chain in conjunction with the Medical and Logistics department.
- Establish the regular organization of meetings, to improve communication and the sharing of essential information for operations.
- Report regularly to the Medical Coordination (at least monthly and whenever considered necessary) the situation of the pharmacy: status, expiration of medications, consumption, prevention of stock shortages, etc. using the monthly pharmacy report
Capacity building and team leadership
- Define, with the help of the direct managers of the people concerned, the training needs of the teams involved in the management of the pharmacy, in line with the objectives of the project.
- Participate in the training of team members in charge of pharmacy management in projects through work support.
- Participate in the selection and monitoring of the staff responsible for pharmacies.
- Collaborate in the clear definition of tasks and the regular updating of the Job Profiles of pharmacy managers.
- Assists in the evaluation of the technical and supervisory capacities of agents involved in the management of pharmacies.
EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS
Training:
- Doctor of Pharmacy
- A trained nurse with experience as a pharmacy manager with a Medical Humanitarian NGO.
Experiments:
- At least 2 years’ experience in a similar position
- Experience in a humanitarian medical intervention context
- Experience in team management and coaching

CONDITIONS
Duration and type of contract : Fixed-term contract under French law – 6 months with possibility of extension
Salary : SALARY ACCORDING TO ALIMA + PERDIEM GRID
ALIMA supports:
- Travel costs between the expatriate’s country of origin and the place of mission
- accommodation costs
- 2.08 days of leave per month
- Per diem daily
- Medical coverage from the first day of the contract to one month after the date of departure from the country of mission for the employee and his beneficiaries
- The break policy every 3 months (for 6 months of mission)
- Evacuation for the employee
