Epidemiologist/biostatistician At Development Expertise Lab



Development Expertise Lab (www.devexpertiselab.com) is a research and consulting firm specializing in international development. DEL is involved in data collection, statistical analysis and research and evaluation activities in developing countries.

DEL is currently preparing a submission in response to a call for tenders for the collection of quantitative data in the field of health with a view to evaluating an intervention against onchocerciasis in Benin, and wishes to identify experts(es) qualified(s) based(es)s in Benin in order to integrate them into its proposal. The specifications require that the team bring together both a public health specialist and a statistician(s)/biostatistician(s). DEL is looking for these two profiles.

Duration of contract: short-term consultation lasting approximately three months, covering preparation, training, data collection, analysis and restitution, over the period from August to November 2026.

Profile 1: Epidemiologist /public health

Qualifications required:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) with a master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, tropical medicine, statistics, biostatistics or a related quantitative field; a doctorate (PhD) is a major asset;
  • Proven experience in public health epidemiology and program evaluation;
  • Experience supporting programs to combat neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) and monitoring activities aligned with WHO standards;
  • Good knowledge of the health system in Benin;
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and coordinating with ministries of health, public institutions and technical partners;
  • Excellent writing and communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Excellent command of French, written and oral; working knowledge of English is an asset.

Profile 2: Statistician(ne)/Biostatistician(ne)

Qualifications required:

  • Master’s or doctorate in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology or a related quantitative field;
  • Experience in cluster sampling methods and complex survey design and analysis;
  • Experience designing, implementing and analyzing large-scale data collections;
  • Excellent command of French, written and oral; working knowledge of English is desired.
