Focus on our activities in Honduras

PUI is starting its activities in Honduras, with a first project financed by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The project will take place in the Department of Ocotepeque, for the provision of primary health services, sexual and reproductive health and mental health for women and children crossing the border with Guatemala or living in the area.

And the Health and Hygiene Officer in all this?

Under the direct supervision of the Health Activities Manager (GAS), the/the Health and Hygiene Officer will contribute to strengthening the capacities of the population served and the community and will ensure a quality link between users (people on the move) and the health support provided by PUI and in general the health system (health practices and care for vulnerable people). It will guarantee this link through communication, spreading health and hygiene messages, explaining the right to access health services and detecting cases that require follow-up, referring them to the Health or SMAPS team (Mental Health and Psychosocial Support).

For this, you will be responsible for :

  • Transmit information and monitor beneficiaries.
  • Promote awareness and acquisition of knowledge.
  • Collect data and write reports.
  • Participate in meetings and coordination.

What you will need to succeed

Training: Training in social work / health / education. Counseling experience would be an advantage.

Experience: At least 1 year of relevant previous experience. Previous experience with international NGOs would be a plus. Work experience with a migrant population would be an advantage.

Competences: Good knowledge of programs like Word, Excel and Outlook. Knowledge of data collection and data interpretation systems such as Kobo, for example.

Qualities: Good communicator, both in writing and orally. He has a sense of diplomacy and good resistance to stress.

Languages: ¿Does Spanish have no secrets for you? Excellent, it is mandatory for this position.
