UNICEF Mexico country programme is expanding its health component, with the purpose of supporting the Ministry of Health at the federal and state levels in reinforcing maternal, infant and child health and nutrition services. The Government of Mexico is in the process of a health sector reform, to ensure universal access to health services and quality for all the population. How can you make a difference?

If you are hired as our Health Officer (NO-2) you will report to the Chief of Nutrition (P-4) and provide professional technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for the Nutrition and Health Programme within the Country Programme. Overall, you will be responsible for providing technical support to the Ministry of Health in the context of the ongoing health system reform and for providing adequate insights, technical assistance and recommendations to ensure that the needs of children and their mothers are adequately addressed, towards universal and quality primary health care. You will also provide technical assistance in maternal and neonatal health, child health (with a special focus on vaccination and supply chain strengthening), adolescent health, sexual and reproductive health, mental health and environmental health.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  1. Support programme development and planning.
  2. Programme management, monitoring and delivery of results.
  3. Technical and operational support to programme implementation.
  4. Networking and partnership building.
  5. Innovation, knowledge management and capacity building.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Minimum requirements:

  • Education: A university degree (Bachelor´s Degree), preferably in one of the following fields: public health, medicine, pediatric health, family health, health research, global/international health, health policy and/or management, environmental health sciences, biostatistics, socio-medical, health education, epidemiology, or another relevant technical field.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas: public health planning and management, maternal and/or neonatal health care programmes/projects.
  • Language Requirements: Fluency in Spanish and proficiency in English (advanced level).

Desirables:

  • Experience working with public health policies in Mexico.
  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergencies.
  • Relevant experience in the Government or in the UN system.
  • Fluency in English.

Should you be selected for a position with UNICEF, you either must be inoculated as required or receive a medical exemption from the relevant department of the UN. Otherwise, the selection will be canceled.
