The Lab Business Development and Specimen Reception Unit oversees and coordinates icddr,b’s laboratory sample collection centres across the city. The unit ensures the efficient delivery of laboratory outreach services, including patient and client registration, identity verification, billing, specimen collection and reception, sample tracking, safe handling and transportation, report delivery, and client support. It also ensures compliance with standard operating procedures, infection prevention and control measures, quality standards, confidentiality requirements, and established turnaround times.
Position Description:
The Health Technologist (Radiography) reporting to the Consultant will be mainly responsible for performing following duties and responsibilities:
- Perform radiographic and fluoroscopic examinations using appropriate positioning, exposure factors, and imaging techniques to produce accurate diagnostic images.
- Explain procedures to clients, obtain informed consent where required, and ensure safe handling, positioning, lifting, and transfer, particularly for clients with limited mobility.
- Determine the minimum effective radiation exposure required and apply appropriate radiation protection measures for clients, staff, and accompanying persons.
- Process and compile images using computerized radiography systems and verify image quality, positioning, sharpness, side markers, artifacts, and correct client identification before release.
- Perform contrast and fluoroscopic procedures safely in accordance with approved protocols, professional standards, and manufacturer guidelines.
- Operate, clean, store, test, calibrate, and maintain radiological equipment according to manufacturer recommendations, and report equipment faults promptly.
- Ensure compliance with applicable radiation laws from proper authority departmental procedures, quality assurance standards, and occupational safety guidelines.
- Identify and correct causes of image artifacts, repeat exposures, equipment-related errors, and other quality issues to maintain diagnostic accuracy and minimize radiation risk.
- Maintain client dignity, privacy, confidentiality, comfort, infection prevention, and ethical standards while responding professionally to client concerns and safety needs.
- Maintain adequate stocks of imaging materials, chemicals, protective equipment, and supplies; monitor storage conditions, expiry dates, inventory records, and proper archiving of radiological documents and images.
Required qualifications and experience:
- Diploma in Medical Techonology (Radiology)Â with good academic record with valid registration from State Medical Faculty
- At least 2 years of experiences in renowned hospital/diagnostic centre;
Location:Â Dhaka
Number of Position:Â 03 posts
Contract Type and Duration:
- Short-Term; duration will be 11 months with a possibility of extension, subject to availability of funds and performance.
Salary & Benefits:
- Tk. 33,397/-Â per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
- Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b, and subsidized canteen; Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
