Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide technical care to patients in the Pediatric or Adult Intensive Care Unit (PICU/ICU), according to the assigned department.
  • Monitor patients’ general condition, vital signs, and clinical indicators, and report any abnormal changes to the medical team.
  • Operate and monitor patient monitoring systems, medical devices, and equipment used in the Intensive Care Unit.
  • Prepare respiratory support devices and other necessary equipment according to patients’ needs and the instructions of the medical team.
  • Ensure that medical equipment and devices are ready and functional before use.
  • Assist physicians and nursing staff during medical, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures within the scope of practice.
  • Assist in preparing patients for medical procedures and monitor their safety during and after the procedure.
  • Provide support to the medical and nursing teams during emergencies and resuscitation procedures, according to training and authorized responsibilities.
  • Monitor ICU devices and equipment and immediately report any malfunction or defect that may affect patient safety.
  • Ensure the availability of essential supplies and equipment and inform the responsible person when additional supplies are required.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and readiness of medical devices, equipment, and the work environment.
  • Apply infection prevention and control and sterilization procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with hospital policies.
  • Handle medical instruments and equipment safely to prevent infection transmission or harm to patients.
  • Accurately document procedures and observations related to patients, devices, and equipment according to the hospital’s approved system.
  • Ensure patient safety during the use of medical devices and equipment.
  • Maintain continuous communication and coordination with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to ensure continuity and quality of care.
  • Follow physicians’ and direct supervisors’ instructions and adhere to ICU protocols and procedures.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics and hospital policies.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development related to patient care and the use of medical devices and equipment.
  • Report any incident, error, or potential risk related to patient safety or medical devices and equipment.
  • Adhere to shift schedules and assigned working hours according to the needs of the department.
  • Perform any other duties related to the position as assigned by the direct supervisor within the scope of practice.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Health technical qualification or relevant educational background suitable for working in an Intensive Care Unit.
  • Previous experience in Pediatric or Adult Intensive Care Units.
  • Good knowledge of the fundamentals of caring for critically ill patients.
  • Good knowledge of patient monitoring systems and medical equipment used in intensive care.
  • Ability to operate respiratory support devices and other equipment within the scope of training and authorized responsibilities.
  • Ability to respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to work under pressure in an environment requiring concentration and accuracy.
  • Commitment to infection prevention and control, occupational safety, and patient safety procedures.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Willingness to work shifts and adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
