Area of activity
On behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the „global project Pandemic Resilience, One Health (GV PROH) “ aims to strengthen prevention and response capacities at national, regional and global levels. The broader establishment and implementation of the One Health approach in international cooperation helps to preserve, improve and identify health risks for people, animals and the environment more sustainably.
The basis is the BMZ strategy for health, social security and population dynamics, which identifies interfaces between biodiversity, environmental, human and animal health for pandemic prevention and places particular emphasis on the detection and control of zoonoses. Important international cooperation partners are the World Health Organization, Quadripartite and the African Union. The GV-PROH also supports the German Female Genital Schistosomiasis (FGS) initiative: From Neglect to Action – Invest in Health and Invest in Women. This joint initiative by BMZ and GIZ is committed to building global alliances and raising awareness of FGS and is currently being implemented in Malawi.
Your tasks
As part of your internship, you have following tasks:
- Support for the global partnership and progress team of the Female Genital Schistosomiasis (FGS) initiative
- Supporting cooperation with multilateral and regional partners, e.g. Africa CDC, EAC and WHO
- Active participation in internal GIZ working groups and processes (e.g. operational planning, communication exchange groups, creation of terms of reference)
- Preparation and follow-up of internal and external appointments and events
- Creation of concise, generally understandable texts, press releases and social media contributions to support public relations for the global project Pandemic Relief, One Health
- Research and analysis on current issues related to the prevention and control of infectious diseases and the One Health approach
- Participation in the creation of relevant internal and external communication products and graphic representations in coordination with the management team
- Documentation, especially for the knowledge management of the program
- Supporting the public relations work of the GV PROH including social media contributions, support and preparation of knowledge products for the assignments, as well as taking on administrative tasks to support the team
your profile
- You are a student from the fifth semester, preferably in the areas of health sciences / medicine / veterinary medicine, social sciences, media sciences or other disciplines with relevance to the program. Candidates from the field of health, social or environmental sciences should have a high level of interest and ideally first experiences in the field of communication and public relations
- They prefer to have initial knowledge and practical experience in the field of international cooperation or humanitarian aid
- (Technical) knowledge of global health or environmental policy, as well as its actors, international processes and agreements are desirable
- They have a cooperative working style and very good oral and written communication skills in German and English. Additional knowledge of French and Spanish is an advantage
- They are determined and are used to working independently and translating specified targets into concrete work steps
- They are available for at least 4, preferably for 6 months
