We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Locum Medical Doctor

Location: Tarauni, Kano
Employment Type: Contract

Key Responsibilities
The Medical Doctor will provide primary and general medical care, including:

• Examine patients presenting with illnesses or injuries and provide urgent and emergency medical care, including resuscitation, stabilization, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and referral where necessary.
• Obtain, document, and maintain accurate patient medical histories, examination findings, investigation results, treatment plans, and progress notes using the hospital’s digital medical records system.
• Assess the urgency and severity of patients’ presenting conditions through appropriate history-taking, physical examination, and investigations.
• Diagnose and manage patients in accordance with established clinical standards and guidelines.
• Develop and implement appropriate treatment plans, including prescribing medications and other therapies, and refer patients to specialist services when required.
• Perform appropriate general practice procedures, including minor surgical procedures, where within the doctor’s competence and scope of practice.
• Provide patient counseling, psychological support, health education, and preventive healthcare advice.
• Request and interpret appropriate laboratory, radiological, and other diagnostic investigations.
• Explain prescribed medications, including potential side effects, precautions, and appropriate usage, to patients and their families or caregivers.
• Provide continuing care and support to patients with chronic and terminal conditions, with appropriate referrals where necessary.
• Work collaboratively with nurses, laboratory scientists, radiographers, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and high-quality patient care.
• Educate patients and their families on disease prevention, nutrition, exercise, hygiene, medication adherence, and other measures to improve health outcomes.
• Maintain professional, ethical, and confidential standards in all patient interactions and clinical documentation.
• Participate in clinical meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and other activities aimed at improving patient safety and service delivery.
