Job Summary

  • We are looking to hire a proactive, dedicated and committed Medical Officer who will be responsible for clearly demonstrating the high-quality medical standards to be upheld while working collectively to provide the best primary care that can be offered.

Job Duties, Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Medical Officers are supposed to work across multiple departments.
  • Examining and recording information on patients’ conditions by sensitively gathering personal information, such as family medical history.
  • Gathering and maintaining patient information confidentially.
  • Planning and preparing appropriate treatment packages for patients
  • Recommending admission or referral of patients requiring additional and special care, investigation, and treatment.
  • Recording and monitoring patient conditions during every visit, both as a tracking of past treatments/tests run and for referrals and cross-referrals with other doctors (internally and externally).
  • Providing advice to patients on lifestyle and diet changes that may improve their health and prevent any illnesses/diseases.
  • Liaising with other medical and non-medical staff in the clinic to ensure quality treatment and effective/efficient service delivery.
  • Promoting health education in conjunction with other health professionals.
  • Organising and coordinating preventative medical care programmes for individual patients, and presentations for clients.
  • Meeting targets set by the government for specific treatments such as child immunisation schedules.
  • Managing resources to serve patients as effectively as possible.
  • Providing the best medical advice for the patient and referring them to a specialist, such as the consultant family physician or eternal specialists, for specific conditions such as diabetic patients or newborn babies.
  • Keeping up-to-date with medical developments such as new drugs on the market, new treatment methods, and technological advancements to be discussed with the doctors and the Medical Director.
  • Discussing the development of new pharmaceutical products with the clinic’s pharmacist and accredited pharmaceutical sales representatives and give feedback to the Medical Director.
  • Maintaining a portfolio of continuing professional development programmes by organising clinical meetings and presentations.
  • Developing quality assurance procedures for clinical processes.
  • Offering health promotion and prevention activities within the clinic, for example, training all medical staff to use devices such as ECG machines and diabetes monitors.
  • Conducting immigration medical examinations to fulfil the technical requirements of the resettlement countries in the areas of:
    • Medical examinations;
    • Imaging;
    • Laboratory testing;
    • Vaccinations;
    • TB management;
    • Treatment and referrals;
    • Documentation, certification and information transmission; and,
    • Other technical areas as may be required
  • Ensuring proper identification of clients/applicants during the health assessment and record all relevant health information in standard forms; ensuring completeness and accuracy of the recorded information.
  • Participating in the treatment of TB and sexually transmitted infections and provide support to the HIV and counselling activities in full compliance with the technical instructions, guidelines and protocols of the resettlement countries.
  • Performing other tasks as may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • A medical Degree from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 2 years post medical school experience as a medical doctor
  • Experience providing primary care and diagnostic services in a clinical setting.

Functional/Technical:

  • Ability to operate medical equipment such as the ECG machine.
  • Excellent use of Microsoft Office, specifically PowerPoint, and any reporting medical software.
  • Effectively and efficiently analyse data.
  • Has excellent presentation skills
  • Ability to carry out procedures such as wound dressing, checking blood pressure, and other physical exams.
  • Possess sound knowledge of the health education industry and its market.
