Job Title: Medical Officer

Job Summary

  • The Medical Officer is responsible for providing high-quality medical care to patients in a clinical or hospital setting.
  • This role involves diagnosing and treating illnesses, conducting routine examinations, prescribing medications, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • The Medical Officer also plays a key role in implementing health policies, maintaining accurate patient records, and promoting preventive healthcare practices.
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and a commitment to patient-centered care are essential for success in this position.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients and provide appropriate medical treatment for various illnesses and injuries.
  • Prescribe, administer and dispense medication in accordance with state and federal statutes.
  • Ensure that patient care and is optimal and is in adherence to the clinical guidelines and quality standards.
  • Document all patient evaluations, treatments, medications and transactions according to company policies and procedure.
  • Performing inpatient and outpatient review with initial assessment and management.
  • Supervise other clinical staff to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of current care methods and procedures and suggest improvements
  • Minor medical, surgical and procedure.
  • General administration of duties as regards patients’ welfare
  • Any other assignment from higher authority.
  • Perform medical procedures, such as administering oxygen, taking vital signs and giving emergency treatments
  • Selecting the appropriate settings and adjusting the patients’ positions accordingly
  • Monitoring and caring for patients to ensure their safety and comfort during the procedures
  • Carrying out Fluoroscopy procedures with the nurses and radiographers
  • Select and examine images, search for differences between healthy and pathological areas and determine if the scope of the exam should be extended based on preliminary findings
  • Complete the appropriate documentation and maintain patients’ medical records
  • Assist Radiologists or Physicians and healthcare teams during invasive procedures

Eligibility Criteria

  • Degree In Medicine – MBBS, MbChB, MD, DO in any Global, National, or State recognized University and conforming to the guidelines as set out by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.
  • Completion of compulsory internship and a minimum of one years post NYSC.
  • Up-to-date registration and license from the MDCN
  • Completion of BLS, ACLS.
