The purpose of the job
Working under the supervision of the Protection Department Coordinator to provide integrated and advisory services in the field of sexual and reproductive health and family planning, in addition to supporting the health of mothers participating in the center’s activities with early detection of danger signs and referral within a safe environment that takes into account privacy and dignity.
Main tasks
- Preparing and delivering awareness-raising and guidance sessions in the field of family planning and reproductive health for women and girls within the center
- Supporting health education messages for women and young women according to the center’s plan and when needed
- Coordinate with local reproductive health service providers for accurate and safe referrals when needed.
- Providing basic maternal and child health services within safe space activities
- Identify risk signs related to pregnancy and coordinate referrals to specialized services when necessary
- Providing first aid and necessary public health measures in the event of any emergency within the center
- Providing the necessary initial support for cases of gender-based violence and referrals
- Ensuring a safe and confidential environment that respects the privacy of beneficiaries.
- Building trusting relationships with women and girls.
Qualifications needed for the job:
- Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in Midwifery
- License to practice the profession of midwifery (according to the rules)
- At least two years of experience in providing maternal/reproductive health services
- Work experience with humanitarian or civil society organizations. Experience working in safe spaces for women and girls is an added advantage
Required personal skills
- Adhere to the policies and code of conduct of Women Now and observe the Principles of Protection from Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA).
- Respect diversity, non-discrimination, the ability to work with vulnerable groups, and understand the sensitivity of society and context
- Cooperation, team spirit and excellent problem-solving abilities
- Ability to simplify concepts and terminology in language understandable to non-specialist women.
- Strong and effective communication skills, empathy, skill, kindness and respect in dealing with women in sensitive situations.
- Proficiency in speaking and writing Arabic, other languages (English or Kurdish) are an added advantage.
- Skills in using computers and Microsoft Office programs and the ability to deal with cloud archiving programs.
