Background
Center for Child Care and Human Development (C3HD) is a Child Centered and Women Focused (CCWF) non-governmental, non-tribal, non-religious and non-profitable organization established and registered with state in 2017 and later registered as a non-profit organization with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
C3HD was established to respond to the needs of the most vulnerable communities and especially women and children, people with disabilities and those affected by conflict and insurgency through maximizing contributions to Health care and wellbeing, Education, WASH, Gender, social and disability inclusions, Protection, Peace Building, and Economic recovery and Livelihood.
C3HD is striving for an all-inclusive community and human development for all, including populations who are marginalized, underserved or affected by conflict or insurgency, catering to their health and wellbeing. We have a mission of transforming the lives women and children on the edges of society and help them regain and pursue their dreams for sustainable development.
C3HD acts as an agent for change. For 5 years and in 4 states (Yobe, Borno, Adamawa and Kano States), we help women and children to overcome the massive problem they face through reducing inequality in accessing health services and education, responding to violence and exclusion,
promoting food security, empowerment, peace and resilience building of communities to be able to withstand and respond to future hardships. We employ “the protective communities’ approach” to our programming’s by mainstreaming safeguarding and protection in our activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma, in Nursing, or Community Health Nursing from an accredited institution.
- Valid and current practicing license from Nursing and Midwifery Council.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Emergency Care is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of infection prevention & control (IPC) standards.
- Training in Reproductive Health, Maternal & Child Health, or Nutrition is an asset.
- Familiarity with clinical protocols and guidelines (national and WHO).
Experience
- Minimum 2–3 years working experience as a Nurse in a hospital, clinic, PHC, or humanitarian health program.
- Experience in delivery, patient assessment, triage, medication management, and wound care.
- Experience working with children, pregnant women, and vulnerable populations.
- Experience maintaining medical records and reporting tools.
- Previous work with an NGO or humanitarian project is an added advantage.
- Experience implementing IPC protocols and managing outbreaks (e.g., cholera, measles).
- Ability to work under pressure, in remote or emergency settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to patients following approved clinical guidelines.
- Conduct triage, vital signs, and patient assessments.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and injections as prescribed.
- Provide first aid, wound care, and emergency stabilization.
- Ensure safe patient referral and follow-up where necessary.
- Maintain infection prevention practices in all clinical activities.
- Support antenatal, postnatal, and neonatal care.
- Assist with safe delivery when required.
- Provide health education to mothers and caregivers.
- Record all patient information accurately in registers and medical forms.
- Report daily/weekly/monthly health activities to the supervisor.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Conduct community or facility-based health education on hygiene, nutrition, maternal health, GBV/SEA prevention, and disease awareness.
- Ensure proper drug storage, stock monitoring, and consumption documentation.
- Request timely medical supplies and ensure proper utilization.
- Maintain professional ethical standards and treat all patients with respect.
- Ensure awareness of PSEA reporting mechanisms among beneficiaries.
- Report any safeguarding concerns through appropriate channels.
- Work collaboratively with doctors, midwives, CHWs, volunteers, and support staff.
- Participate in training, supervision, and supportive mentoring sessions.
