Purpose of the position:

The AVSI Foundation seeks candidates of the highest integrity and professionalism to support the activities of its project in the province of Tanganyka and, who share our humanitarian principles. Main tanks and responsibilities:

  • The Nutrition Field Coordinator (CT) is responsible for coordinating and monitoring the field activities of the new nutrition project
  • The coordination will consist in directly supervising the field teams composed of Nutrition Supervisors and Mobilisers
  • Movement planning and supervision visits;
  • Reporting; data collection and implementation of project activities.
  • The CT works in close collaboration with the Field Supervisors and under the direct supervision of Project Manager AVSIi qu’ with the technical support of the National Nutrition Coordinator of the AVSI Foundation.
  • The Field Coordinator will also collaborate with the logistics of the project

Essential requirements:

Project activities

  • Develop tools for the implementation of nutrition activities
  • Planning and supervising training (content, budget, logistics), as well as revitalising existing community structures within the logical framework of the project (with a focus on the inclusion of women)
  • Supervise the delivery of inputs and medicines for the treatment of malnutrition cases in FOSA
  • Oversee outreach, monitoring and screening activities in the community and at the level of targeted health centres
  • Supervise the inclusion of beneficiaries in the project – women as well as men
  • Technically support nutrition supervisors and mobilizers
  • Coordinate with state institutions (BCZs) to monitor and ensure data compliance prior to reporting.

Activity planning and team supervision

  • Prepare and update monthly the schedule of project activities (training, supervision, awareness raising, etc..)
  • Prepare and have validated the monthly planning of field supervision and prepare requests for movements to the logistics department
  • Track and update schedules and adjustments based on needs
  • Prepare and have validated requests for purchase and requests for transport of equipment to the field
  • Supervise the team and their activities and ensure the implementation of the activities within the time frame and in the necessary quality
  • Directly build the capacity of the field team and/or suggest appropriate ways to build capacity

Data collection and S&E

  • In collaboration with Finance/Admin in the field, ensure data collection for monitoring and evaluation of activities
  • Collaborator with the S&E Unit on the development and implementation of the S&E tools
  • Follow up in collaboration with the S&E Unit and the AVSI Project Manager on the collection and analysis of data necessary for reporting (monitoring of project indicators), and,

Rapporting

  • Prepare a monthly statistical and narrative report of activities based on the individual reports of the Nutrition Supervisors and Community Mobilizers

Finance and Administration

  • Ensure good management of a distributed budget for the direct implementation of field activities
  • Ensure the proper management of the financial resources and entrants allocated for the operation of the activities and protect the assets of the AVSI Foundation
  • Monitor the organization’s financial and administrative procedures

Skills and experiences required:

Training :

  • university degree ( level A1 or A0 ) in the field of Nutrition and / or Public Health or other relevant fields

Experience in the sector :

  • at least 2 years of experience in the nutrition / health sector by working for a local NGOI or NGO
  • Experience working in volatile and difficult areas
  • Knowledge of the humanitarian context in DR Congo

Computer science :

  • mastery of the computer tool, Microsoft Office and in particular Excel, knowledge of KOBO Collect and ODK (setting up a server and setting up tablets)

Languages :

  • fluency in French and Swahili read and written

Other :

  • experience in low budget management

Wished :

  • Knowledge of English ;

  • Experience working in a consortium of several NGOs/NGOs
  • Experience with tablets ;
