Job Summary
- We are seeking a motivated and compassionate optometry intern to join our clinical team.
- This role offers hands-on experience supporting eye care services while working under the supervision of qualified optometrists.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with patient intake, appointment preparation, and preliminary eye assessments.
- Support optometrists during eye examinations, including visual acuity tests, refraction support, and diagnostic procedures.
- Prepare, clean, and maintain examination rooms, equipment, and optical instruments.
- Record patient information accurately and maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Provide courteous guidance to patients on appointment processes, eyewear options, and follow-up care.
- Assist with dispensing, fitting, adjustment, and basic care instructions for spectacles and contact lenses.
- Help manage stock of frames, lenses, contact lenses, and clinical supplies.
- Follow all clinic policies, health and safety standards, and professional ethical guidelines.
- Participate in training, supervision sessions, and other learning opportunities.
Requirements
- Currently graduated from an accredited Optometry programme.
- Strong interest in eye health, patient care, and clinical learning.
- Good communication, interpersonal, and customer-service skills.
- High attention to detail, professionalism, and respect for patient confidentiality.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Basic computer and record-keeping skills.
