VisionSpring, an international social enterprise, seeks a Pharmacy Territorial Lead – in its project execution in Nigeria. The Pharmacy Project Lead is delivering one of our newest models of service delivery, bringing clear vision into the community, closer to those who had limited access before.
Reporting to the Global Phramacy Manager, this is a full-time, contract-based position for a duration of 2 years, requiring a candidate located in Northern Nigeria with in-depth knowledge of the local market. The Pharmacy Territory Project Lead will be responsible for developing a scalable and sustainable business model for distributing reading eyeglasses through pharmacy store.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
Project Management
- Build a scalable and sustainable business model for selling reading eyeglasses in pharmacy stores in Kano.
- Drive execution and work closely with all cross-functional team members, partners, distributors and vendors to co-ordinate multiple workstreams and drive closure on action items.
- Present status to leadership team including execution, budget adherence and risks, in a standard format at regular intervals.
- Travel to various locations – pharmacies, referral hospitals and outreach camps as needed to implement project.
- Work closely with Supply Chain and Logistics teams to ensure product and other equipment are available on site as required for project. Develop a plan for reusable assets.
- Working closely with Program manager and Optometrists, develop a service operations plan including delivery of service and collection of data.
- Working with the Monitoring and Evaluation team, develop and maintain the Key Performance Indicators as required for the project.
- Propose innovations based on data and evidence gathered.
Operations
- Develop and map assigned territory by selecting the right pharmacy clusters.
- Identify and on-board new retail pharmacy and ensure product lifting to pharmacies.
- Product requisition collection from distributor and ensure product supply in time.
- Ensure marketing collateral displayed at visible place of a retail.
- Regular visit and market development
- Monitor distributor staffs’ daily activities.
- Prepare regular sales reporting, analysing, and solving territory operational issues.
- Provide sales projection SKU wise on quarter basis.
- Engagement with country lead identify opportunities for new business, plan retail training, build sustainable.
- trade relationship with channel partners and establish control over trade.
- Liaise with supply chain officer to ensure delivery to pharmacies, and per demand of pharmacy.
- Ensure product display at pharmacy and proper execution of POSM (point of sale materials)
Financials
- Work closely with Global Program Manager, Country Manager and African Director in preparation of the budget for new projects. Develop budget forecasting models and track variance to the budget.
- Ensure project budget are tightly monitored. Keep track of staffing requirements and ensure that project is level loaded to optimize labor. Maintain a tracker of project staff cost.
- Monitor philanthropy subsidy and ensure that this subsidy reduces over time for the project.
Training, Marketing and Communications
- Increase the effectiveness and efficiency of field staff through training to improve their skills at regular intervals.
- Ensure that distributors, partners, retailers are trained as required. Working with the Program Manager and Training team, ensure that training content is developed as needed for the project.
- Working with marketing teams, ensure that all collateral and marketing material is available for the project at all points of distribution, retail, or service camps.
- Gather customer and user stories that can be shared across the VisionSpring network of donors and partners.
Overall support
- Help Managers and Country Leaders develop new project proposals in standard format for approval by the
- leadership team.
- Take charge of all on-going and upcoming VisionSpring projects and apply project management discipline to
- deliver them on time, on budget and with quality.
WHAT’S REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma.
- 5 to 7 years of professional experience
- Planning and analytical skills
- Distributor experience is a plus.
- Negotiation skills
- Demonstrated project management experience.
- Demonstrated financial or budget management experience. Must reside in Northern Nigeria, with knowledge of the local market dynamics and experience working with local stakeholders.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English, and other local languages common in the northern Nigeria.
- Computer software skills, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
