We have almost 500 employees under French law but also 1400 employees on the ground at’international and more than 1500 volunteers in France. Present in Mayotte since 2007, MdM aims to reduce health inequalities and’ improve access to care for people in precarious situations. The’association has set up, between 2009 and 2017, a medico-social consultation activity for minors in precarious situations throughout the department.

In 2017, the mission is reorienting itself towards an environmental health programme, in a community-based approach within the Kaweni district, considered the largest slum in France (where the offices of MdM are located).

Started in 2023, the new health mediation program includes an approach to health professionals and prevention and care structures, in order to foster a better mutual understanding, to clarify the channels of care and to fluidify the routes.

The context of the territory being evolving, the usual activities of the program may be brought to be, according to the events, punctually suspended to be temporarily redirected to actions of mobile medical consultations and’alimentation of advocacy.
