Job Title: Psychologist

Job location: Syria – Idleb

JOB SUMMARY

The psychologist is responsible for providing psychological, educational, and rehabilitative support for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their families, and to develop comprehensive and individualized intervention plans based on scientific assessment, implemented in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The psychologist has the following responsibilities and duties:

· Conduct comprehensive psychological and behavioral assessments using standardized and approved tools and reports.

· Participate in the diagnosis of autism spectrum disorders in collaboration with the specialized team.

· Develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), follow up on their implementation, and modify them as needed.

· Deliver individual and group therapy sessions based on scientific strategies (e.g., Applied Behavior Analysis, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy…).

· Provide psychological counseling and support to the parents of children, encouraging their active participation in the therapeutic plan.

· Document all therapy sessions and evaluation reports and update them regularly.

· Work within a multidisciplinary team (teachers, speech therapists, occupational therapists…) and maintain ongoing coordination.

· Contribute to building the capacity of the staff through internal guidance or training sessions.

· Conduct awareness workshops for parents and the local community about autism and the role of families.

· Adhere to ethical and professional standards in the practice of psychology.

· Participate in regular meetings and report on case development and service quality improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Should have the following skills, education, and experience:

· A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in psychology (Master’s degree or a specialized diploma in Child Psychology or Clinical Psychology is preferred).

· At least two years of experience working with children with autism spectrum disorder.

· Strong knowledge of psychological assessment methods and standardized tools.

· Familiarity with modern therapeutic techniques used in autism treatment.

· Ability to communicate effectively with children and their families.

· Strong teamwork skills and the ability to coordinate within a multidisciplinary team.

· High documentation skills and proficiency in using computers.

· Empathy, patience, and the ability to work with children with special needs.

· Good analytical and organizational skills.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
