Vacancy Announcement: Psychosocial Support (PSS) Specialist
Duty Station: Syria – Afrin
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan and deliver structured psychosocial support sessions for children in the targeted schools using approved PSS tools.
• Conduct psychosocial support sessions for caregivers to strengthen emotional support skills and positive coping mechanisms.
• Follow up on cases identified within schools and assess children who require additional support.
• Conduct safe referrals through school-based pathways when necessary.
• Develop and implement interactive PSS activities (drawing, storytelling, emotional play) appropriate for different age groups.
• Regularly update service mapping and referral pathways.
• Prepare and submit monthly reports to the Project Manager.
• Support community awareness activities related to mental health and child wellbeing.
• Coordinate closely with the Field Coordinator and Project Manager to ensure effective and timely implementation.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in implementing PSS activities.
• Strong knowledge of MHPSS standards, Psychological First Aid (PFA), GBV, and Child Protection principles.
• Excellent facilitation and communication skills.
• Experience working with children.
• Commitment to protection principles and humanitarian values.
• Preference will be given to candidates residing in Afrin.
