
OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
1. Help countries reduce preventable maternal morbidity and mortality, including unsafe abortion. 2. Promote and protect sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) for the well-being of all people under the 13th General Program of Work, and enable them to contribute to the overall development of their community and society .In Burundi, the objective of the program is to strengthen the support of the country office of the World Health Organization, for the achievement of national objectives in terms of family and reproductive health and to contribute to global and regional actions of public health. The program will also contribute to the development and implementation of national policies and strategies, operational plans, directives, norms and standards in the areas of Maternal, Reproductive and Gender Health. – Provide technical support to national services in planning, development and implementation of national policies and strategies in reproductive health, maternal health, women’s health and gender according to regional strategies; – Provide technical support for the development of operational research on the various aspects of Reproductive health, maternal health, women’s health and Gender, – Collaborate with partners involved in activities to strengthen health systems and Reproductive health services, maternal health, women’s health and gender, in particular child and adolescent health programs, the fight against malaria, the fight against non-communicable diseases, the prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS. – Contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 3 related to health, in particular SDG 3 relating to maternal health and family planning.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
The incumbent will perform the following tasks:1. Assist the country in the planning, implementation and review of interventions relating to maternal health, women’s rights and health, SSR in collaboration with other organizations involved in these areas and within the framework of the Common Programming of the System of the United Nations.2. Provide technical assistance for the development or updating of national guidelines, technical guides, training modules and revision of training curricula for SSR.3. Facilitate an integrated approach in the provision of quality services and care at each stage of the life cycle (Child, Adolescent, Adult, Elderly) delivered at all levels of the health system as part of the Care development process Primary Health Care (PHC) and Universal Health Coverage (UHC).4. Contribute to the establishment of effective partnerships with bilaterals, multilaterals, donors, related programs and civil society for the promotion of Gender and the Human Right to Health, in particular the Maputo Protocol. 5. Initiate/Support operational research in sexual and reproductive health including Family Planning in health facilities and at the community level.6. Coordinate and facilitate the documentation and dissemination of lessons learned in reproductive, maternal and gender health programming; and the promotion and implementation of operations research7. Serve as a Focal Point for all gender issues and interests.8. Any other tasks agreed with the WHO country office representative, technical counterparts from the regional office and headquarters of this initiative.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Essential : – Obstetrician Gynecologist or Pediatrician, public health specialist or equivalent
Desirable : Specialization in social or legal sciences
EXPERIENCE
Essential : Have at least two (02) years of experience in the design of innovative policies and strategies and the implementation of maternal and reproductive health programs; and data analysis.
Desirable : Good knowledge of the health system in Burundi. Experience in Program management and/or technical assistance across or within the United Nations system and Strong editorial skills
SKILLS

REMUNERATION
Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at BIF 71,783,000 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
