ALIMA has a zero-tolerance approach towards people guilty of acts of gender-based and sexual violence as well as towards inaction in the face of alleged or proven acts of violence. Protecting those benefiting from and impacted by our intervention is our top priority in everything we do. Anyone collaborating with ALIMA undertakes to:

Since its creation in 2009, ALIMA has treated more than 6 million patients, and today deploys its operations in 12 African countries. In 2020, we developed 67 humanitarian medical response projects to meet the needs of populations affected by conflicts, epidemics and extreme poverty. All of these projects support national health authorities through 357 health structures (including 45 hospitals and 312 health centers). We work in partnership, particularly with local NGOs, whenever possible to ensure that our patients benefit from expertise where it is found, whether in their country or in the rest of the world. Furthermore, to improve the humanitarian response,we carry out operational and clinical research projects, particularly in the field of the fight against malnutrition and viral hemorrhagic fevers. ALIMA is also conducting operations in response to the covid-19 pandemic across all of our missions.

OUR PROJECT THEMES: Malnutrition, Sexual and reproductive health including gender-based violence, Primary and secondary health, surgery, pediatric care, killer diseases such as Malaria, AKI, Diarrhea, Epidemics (Hemorrhagic fevers, meningitis, Cholera, Measles, Dengue, Covid-19).

OUR COUNTRIES OF INTERVENTION: Mali, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, Nigeria, Niger, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Guinea, South Sudan, Mauritania, Senegal and Sudan.

ALIMA

On May 15, 2026, authorities in the Democratic Republic of Congo declared a new outbreak of Ebola virus disease in Ituri province. The identified virus belongs to the species Bundibugyo ebolavirus, for which no vaccine or specific treatment has demonstrated effectiveness to date. This situation underlines the importance of clinical research in order to quickly evaluate prevention and management strategies adapted to this variant. Generating robust scientific data is essential to guide the public health response and improve the protection of exposed populations. The EBO-PEP trial is a clinical trial designed to evaluate the effectiveness, safety, and feasibility of post-exposure prophylaxis strategies in individuals exposed to Ebola.It aims to produce evidence that can inform international recommendations and strengthen tools for controlling Ebola virus disease outbreaks.

PROTECTION OF BENEFICIARIES AND MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY

Level 3: As part of their duties, the position holder will be required to visit the programs and be in contact with vulnerable children and/or adults. Therefore, criminal record check or presentation of a certificate of good conduct and morals will be necessary. In situations where it is impossible to provide a criminal record or a certificate of good conduct and morals, a sworn declaration will be requested.

FUNCTIONAL AND HIERARCHICAL LINKS

He/she reports to the EBO-PEP Consortium Research Coordinator

He/She is required to work closely with the INRB, central partner in the implementation of the project.

MISSION AND MAIN ACTIVITIES

The Research Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the implementation and monitoring of ALIMA inclusion sites for the EBO-PEP project; In close collaboration with field teams and support departments (medical, logistics, human resources, finance, procurement), he/she ensures the smooth running of operations in accordance with the research protocol and Good Clinical Practices (GCP).

1. Define and monitor the project on inclusion sites

• Implement the strategy and action plan established in collaboration with the trial coordinating bodies
• Applies the timeline of activities developed in collaboration with the trial consortium coordinator.
• Coordinate all research activities on PEP centers, integrated into the different pillars of the response, in collaboration with the investigation team
• Identify and mobilize the resources necessary to conduct the test (human resources, medical equipment and logistics), in collaboration with the DRC mission coordination team.
• Collaborate with INRB and UCAD for the monitoring of community activities (contact monitoring and community engagement strategy), integrated into the response, ensuring their proper planning and implementation before periods of high inclusion of participants.
• Write regular progress reports intended for technical reporting, and propose strategies adapted to the evolution of the project.

2. Ensure compliance with the research protocol as well as compliance with the Good Clinical Practice (GCP) ICH E6 (R2) guidelines on the sites for which he is responsible.

Data quality and compliance with GCPs are the responsibility of the trial monitoring and data management team (CTD, trial partners). The research coordinator ensures that this team has the necessary resources, procedures, tools and skills, and that the planned systems are effectively implemented. It collaborates with the CTD to:

• Supports the CTD in implementing corrective actions and alerts the appropriate managers when necessary.
• Organizes monitoring visits with the CTD and ensures logistics
• Contributes to maintaining a research environment that complies with regulatory, ethical, protocol and GCP requirements, without replacing the CTD’s own responsibilities.

3. Supervise investigation teams

The research coordinator leads the team for which he is responsible, in collaboration with the Co-HR and the consortium coordinator and the administrator.

• Participate in the composition of teams and write job profiles, identify training needs.
• Organize schedules, plan staff replacements in collaboration with the Co-HR and the administrator.
• Ensure individual monitoring of each member of the team: supervision, coaching, support, advice and evaluation. Organizes the reception and briefing of new arrivals.
• Carries out the POPs (performance objective plan) of team members under his direct responsibility.
• Transmit to the teams the information and directives given by the ALIMA coordination and/or headquarters and ensure that the study procedures are properly applied.
• Ensures the prevention and resolution of conflicts within his team.
• Ensures that safety and health constraints are understood by everyone.
• Plans and leads work meetings with the team and partners: project progress, security, team meetings.
• Responsible for monitoring the implementation of the protection policy against abuse of power and gender-based and sexual violence.

4. Manage material and financial resources

• Supervises the proper use of the means made available for carrying out the project and all orders (medical and logistical).
• Organize the monitoring of stocks of equipment (medical and logistics) and investigative medicines with the project logistician, as well as the necessary orders.
• Ensures monthly monitoring of the status of project expenses and commitments and analyzes financial data with the mission administrator.
• Ensures compliance with standards in the administrative and logistical management of the project.

CONDITIONS

Duration and type of contract : Fixed-term contract under French law – 4 months with possibility of extension

Salary : VERY COMPETITIVE SALARY + EXPERIENCE + PERDIEM
