Mission and objectives

WHO elaborates strategies and activities while providing advice on health care sector development and intersectoral health issues. As a global health lead, WHO provides support to the Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia (MoILHSA) to support the development of a resilient health system. A well-functioning health system working in harmony which is built on having trained and motivated health workers, a well-maintained infrastructure, and a reliable supply of medicines and technologies, backed by adequate funding, strong health plans and evidence-based policies, constant changes and reforms are happening, with often unintended consequences on the healthcare providers and patients. As such, to provide the necessary support to identify ongoing reform efforts and to address arising issues, it is important to conduct continuous monitoring of health system changes, including health service delivery and financing policies, budget for health, population needs, access to medicines and other relevant information. Having up to date relevant information is thus key for WHO to fulfil its mandate.Context

The task requires gathering information on a weekly basis from websites and social media accounts of key stakeholders, such as the Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia (MoILHSA), the Ministry of Finance (MoF), the National Health Agency (NHA), the Parliament, private providers, patient groups, research institutions and international and national partners to track changes to the health system in Georgia. This information is then to be consolidated into structured slideshow in English and submitted for review to be finalized. We expect the selected online volunteer(s) to start with this task in mid-February 2025 and to finish in 12 weeks after the start date.Task Description

Prepare bi-weekly and monthly updates on health sector reform activities, information, updates and key information for the alignment of WHO technical assistance to the government of Georgia predominantly within the following areas of health systems and translate relevant documents, presentations from English to Georgian and vice versa, (1) health reforms as part of the government implementation of plans and strategies (2) financing the health system in Georgia, (3) PHC, inpatient and outpatient health services, including the private sector, (4) EU integration process, (5) healthcare workforce, (6) medicines, assistive technology, labs and medical devices, (7) digital health, and other health systems related topics. The main sources of information is social media, websites of various ministries and stakeholders in healthcare and published reports, interviews and media. The exact list of sites and accounts to be followed will be done in collaboration with WHO. The online volunteer might be also asked time from time to help in basic translations of technical text from to GEO-ENG, up to 5 ppts, each around 20 slides per months. Interim reports on the progress and the achievement of key objectives and deliverables are to be submitted to WHO Georgia.Competencies and values
