Hence, strengthening the National Health Workforce Registry (NHWR) that houses the records of all the healthcare workers in Nigeria for record keeping and evidence-based planning of Nigeria’s Healthcare System is very important for generating accurate evidence for decision making. WHO Nigeria supports the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (FMOH &SW) to strengthen management of Human Resources for Health including setting up of the National Health Workforce Registry. FMOH &SW has set an ambitious goal to ensure up-to-date records of all healthcare workers in the health sector of the 36 states and the FCT. This registry will be useful for designing and implementing healthcare policies and interventions to improve the country’s healthcare system.
