JOB DESCRIPTION/SCOPE OF WORK Position Title: Team Lead, State Job Cadre: Manager Organization: TAConnect, Nigeria No. of Positions: 2 Location: Kaduna, Yobe, Nigeria The scope of work (SOW) sets forth the services to be provided by the Team Lead, State to Technical Advice Connect LTD/GTE (TAConnect), a non-profit organization registered and based in Nigeria to bring innovative solutions to the provision of Technical Assistance (TA) services to states in Nigeria. Job Description: The Team Leads, State will lead the overall management of the technical, programmatic, and administrative activities to ensure successful implementation of TAConnect’ technical portfolio of RMNCH+N, PHC systems strengthening, and other related investments in Nigeria in Kaduna, Yobe, Rivers/Akwa Ibom, Nigeria. He/she will also provide both programmatic and technical oversight to ensure that project strategies and approaches are delivered in a coherent and coordinated way to meet program goals and objectives in a timely and efficient manner. He/she will also ensure adherence to TAConnects’ policies and donor regulations in the states. Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
- Lead the planning, coordination, and implementation of interventions in alignment with donor requirements and the project implementation plan.
- Build strong partnerships with the SPHCB, the state government and other key stakeholders to ensure the program is in line with government priorities and the successful implementation of the project.
- Work with the state’s team to assess activity progress to ensure that the project maintains close adherence to work plans and meets designated milestones, deliverables, and benchmarks.
- Provide strategic leadership for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the state programs.
- Lead, supervise, and provide mentorship and guidance to the state team, fostering a collaborative and inclusive team culture to maximize performance to achieve project objectives.
- Review all programmatic and technical training plans to ensure the goals and objectives of the project are met clear.
- Lead the development and implementation of a robust monitoring and evaluation plan to assess the impact and effectiveness of interventions.
- Collaborate with partners to strengthen the coordination and integration of RMNCH activities at the state level.
- Lead the development of quarterly and monthly implementation plans for effective project implementation.
- Prepare and submit quality data and program reports.
- Deploy innovative tools for efficient program management of the project.
- Represent TAConnect at relevant state-level forums and meetings.
- Perform all other tasks as assigned by the Technical Director
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Epidemiology, Public Health, or a related field. A Master’s degree in public health or a related field will be an added advantage.
- Experience: Minimum of 6 years experience in public health, working experience in the areas of RMNCH, Nutrition, family planning, and HSS and in a large public health program, with extensive experience managing similar projects.
- Familiarity with the PHC system and Nigerian health sector with robust stakeholder management skills.
- Substantial experience working in various regions of Nigeria, including Northern states.
- Strong program management and technical background with analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated competence in assessing priorities and in managing a variety of activities in a time-sensitive environment, and in meeting deadlines with attention to detail and quality.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a multidisciplinary team to meet project objectives across several thematic areas.
- Proven ability to communicate well with, motivate, guide, and direct all levels of staff.
- Demonstrated strategic agility, diplomacy, conflict management, team building, written and oral communication, and negotiation skills.
- Attention to detail with abilities to multitask and meet demanding timelines.
- Ability to travel within the state and occasionally to national or regional meetings.
- Time management skills, organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Adaptable to change, and flexible with duties and hours.
- Ability to consistently meet multiple deadlines and willingness to travel up to 50% of the time within Nigeria.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills in English. Fluency in Hausa may be an added advantage.
- Collaborate with the Technical Director/Strategic Engagement Director/ Finance, Admin, and Operations Director to ensure successful program implementation.
