How can you make a difference? Key functions/Responsibilities

The Nurse will be responsible for providing safe, timely and quality nursing care to people affected by emergencies, disasters and humanitarian crises served by the Venezuelan Red Cross. It will work in coordination with doctors, volunteers and other health professionals to ensure an efficient humanitarian response focused on the needs of the population.

He/she will be in charge of:

  • Provide nursing care to patients in outpatient clinics, advanced medical posts and humanitarian operations.
  • Carry out initial assessment of patients, taking vital signs and clinical follow-up.
  • Administer medications and treatments prescribed in accordance with established protocols.
  • Support medical procedures and patient stabilization activities.
  • Maintain complete and updated clinical records.
  • Apply infection prevention and control measures.
  • Participate in vaccination campaigns, health promotion and community activities.
  • Support epidemiological surveillance and reporting of public health events.
  • Manage and control inventories of medications, medical supplies and nursing equipment.
  • Train volunteers and community members in first aid and basic health practices.
  • Coordinate with the Health, WASH, Protection and Logistics teams to ensure a comprehensive response.
  • Promote the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent in all activities.
  • Perform other functions assigned by your immediate supervisor.

Report

The Nurse will report to the Medical Coordinator or Health Leader of the Project.

Workplace

La Guaira, with availability to travel nationwide.

To qualify as a builder of the Venezuelan humanitarian system you must meet the following requirements:

  • University Degree or Higher Technician in Nursing.
  • Professional registration and current enabling documentation.
  • Minimum experience of 02 years in clinical, hospital, primary care or emergency services.
  • Experience in humanitarian programs, disaster response or community health is desirable.
  • Knowledge of emergency care and first aid protocols.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in emergency environments.
  • Communication skills, teamwork and humanitarian treatment.
  • Spanish language proficiency; Basic knowledge of English will be valued.
  • Commitment to the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent.
