Project Manager, RAINS At Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition



About the Role

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is seeking a Project Manager, RAINS to provide functional, technical and managerial leadership towards the effective implementation of RAINS project in Bangladesh. This role will be offered on a 3 years’ fixed-term contract basis, subject to availability of funding. You will be based in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Reporting to the Portfolio Lead, LSFF and Value Chain, you will be responsible for the management and implementation of the Diversified Resilient Agriculture for Improved Food and Nutrition Security (RAINS) project with close collaboration with the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) and other agencies of the of the Ministry of Agriculture along with United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization.

Throughout the project life cycle, you will ensure the accurate planning, management and reporting of activities, budgets (resources), monitoring, external services and any other key areas required to deliver successful projects.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Defining project scope, activities and objectives in line with the GAIN business plans, programme frameworks, and organizational strategic priorities
  • Identifying, tracking and resolving project issues on an ongoing basis, and proactively seeking support where issues require wider attention and resolution
  • Leading a project team consisting of people across the organisation
  • Building and maintaining strong partnerships with government entities particularly different field level agencies of the Ministry of Agriculture, civil society, INGOs, private sector and other organizations
  • Writing donors’ reports in collaboration with project teams, technical teams, funding team and support teams
  • Ensuring narrative reporting and financial accounting meet GAIN and donor’s requirements
  • Working with international finance to ensure that accurate budgets and forecasting are drawn up for all activities, and that activities costs are kept within budgets
  • Leading on the procurement process by identifying, selecting and managing suppliers within ethical and procurement standards and guidelines
  • Ensuring monthly project reporting (in line with GAINs Project Management Standards) to update management on program progress achieved, program plans, changes in direction and challenges encountered

About You

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in project management in complex and diverse environments as well as working with local government bodies. You will have proven experience on climate-smart and nutrition-sensitive technologies, integrated farming approaches to collaborate with the farmers’ groups and production clusters and integrated farming business models tailored to the specific needs of women and youth living in poverty and vulnerability.

The postholder will also have experience in delivering projects on time / on budget, using project management processes and tools including risk management, benefits management, financial management and quality assurance and demonstrable understanding of the gender and protection dynamics of humanitarian and development work, and ability to capture this in the analysis and design of interventions.

You will be a dynamic individual with strong ability to work with diverse groups/individuals and will be highly flexible and willing to travel in challenging environments. In addition to this, you will possess fluent written and spoken English.

Postgraduate degree in agriculture, food science, governance, nutrition, development studies or related field and/or bachelor’s degree or recognized international accreditation in project management. You will be IT literate with excellent MS Office skills and with excellent project management capabilities.

About our Offer

The starting salary on offer for this role is from BDT 2,394,972 – BDT 2,738,570 per annum (gross salary), depending on experience.

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the United Nations in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. Due to COVID19, conflict in Ukraine and climate change, malnutrition and hunger have worsened significantly since 2019, reversing a decade of progress.
