Mission

Plan, implement and direct the new Department of Health and Mobilization for Social Transformation of Médicos del Mundo Spain, providing an integrative vision in its interventions from a health perspective, transversal approaches and mobilization for social transformation in health according to the lines of action and objectives defined in the association’s Strategic Plan.

Promote orientation towards social change in all actions developed by the department with special attention to the rights-based approach, volunteer participation and the measurement of environmental impact.

Direct hierarchical and functional dependence on the General Coordination and permanent member of the Management Committee.

Responsibilities

– Design, control and supervise the strategies, budget and actions of the department to meet the strategic objectives of the Association.

– Participate, as a permanent member of the Management Committee, in the analysis and planning of the Organization, translating it into adequate resource management aimed at meeting its objectives.

– Act as a point of reference for the members of the Board of Directors in their areas of competence and promote the active participation of the members of the association through work groups, in the design, monitoring and, where appropriate, execution of the activities. Actions.

– Ensure and improve the orientation of the organization towards social change focused on health, conceived in its most holistic and integral meaning, through the development and operationalization of the Health Policies and Strategies of Médicos del Mundo.

– Promote the mainstreaming of approaches (gender and human rights, anthropological, participation and environment), and values, both in the intervention processes and in the organizational components (structure and operation of MdM)

– Develop and implement tools and methodologies to implement socio-health academic research and the generation of scientific evidence within the framework of our actions.

– Promote Knowledge Management as a tool for continuous improvement of the coherence, quality and effectiveness of MdM processes.

– Design and implement the mobilization strategy for social transformation in health, with special development of the EPTS and the entity’s global Social Advocacy proposal, as fundamental components of the associative nature and orientation to change in MdM.

– Support the territorial headquarters and the teams in the countries, in the implementation of EPTS actions, social impact, the mobilization of the association’s members and volunteers, the definition and conceptualization of the health components of the projects, and of the application of transversal approaches in all areas of the organization’s operation.

– Mobilize and manage the MdM association base through the regional headquarters for their involvement and active participation in social impact actions, thematic, geopolitical and technical groups.

– Strengthen the role of state volunteer groups (thematic and geostrategic), the participation of volunteers with a high level of experience and knowledge in the health sector, international cooperation and human rights or others related to the activity of the organization, as well as optimize its functional coordination with the operational structure of MdM.

– Collaborate with the International Network of Doctors of the World, establishing the necessary synergies, as well as representation functions before other entities.

– Manage, supervise and ensure the development of the talent of your work teams.

Minimum requirements

Training

Academic: degree in Health Sciences (Medicine, Nursing, Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacy, Nutrition, Dentistry, Psychology, etc.

Postgraduate in Public Health, Epidemiology, Humanitarian Health Action, Bioethics and similar

Desired training:

Training in Human Rights and Ethics, Gender, Humanitarian Action, Emergencies, Human Mobility, Sustainable Development, Social Change.

PhD and/or professional experience in research and knowledge management

Training in Gender and Health, human mobility and/or climate crisis and health

Requirements

Languages: At least B2 level of English. Level B2 in French will be valued.

IT: Regular user of Office, Internet and ERPs

Experience

Required:

Minimum experience of 5 years of work as a professional linked to different areas of health.

Minimum experience of 3 years working in the field of Human Rights.

Minimum experience of 5 years working with health NGOs in projects with vulnerable populations at the state level or International Cooperation.

Desired:

Experience of at least 3 years in the field in development projects and/or humanitarian emergencies.

Proven experience of responsibility in managing organizations or teams in the health NGO sector will be valued.
