Job Summary

  • We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cardiac Anaesthetist to provide specialized anaesthetic and perioperative care for patients undergoing cardiac surgical and interventional procedures.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for preoperative assessment, administration and management of cardiac anaesthesia, intraoperative haemodynamic monitoring, postoperative stabilization, and critical care support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive pre-anaesthetic assessment and risk stratification of patients undergoing cardiac procedures.
  • Develop and implement individualized anaesthetic plans for cardiac surgical and interventional procedures.
  • Administer general and regional anaesthesia, sedation, and advanced perioperative techniques as clinically appropriate.
  • Provide anaesthetic management for open-heart procedures, including coronary artery bypass grafting, valve surgery, and other major cardiac procedures.
  • Manage patients requiring advanced haemodynamic monitoring and cardiovascular support during surgery.
  • Manage difficult airways and perioperative emergencies, including cardiac arrest and major haemorrhage.
  • Provide postoperative anaesthetic and critical care support for cardiac surgery patients.
  • Collaborate closely with cardiac surgeons and perfusionists during cardiopulmonary bypass procedures.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary cardiac team meetings and clinical decision making.

Requirements

  • Medical Degree (MBBS / MD or equivalent).
  • Fellowship in Anaesthesiology or equivalent recognized specialist qualification.
  • Current medical registration and valid practising licence in country of practice, with eligibility for registration in Nigeria.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of post-specialization experience, with significant experience in cardiac anaesthesia.
  • Demonstrated experience in cardiac surgery, advanced haemodynamic monitoring, and perioperative critical care.
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice, patient safety, and continuous professional development.
  • Open to qualified local and expatriate candidates.
