About MSF
Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) is an independent, non-profit humanitarian organization delivering emergency medical care worldwide, without discrimination. Since 2021, MSF has operated in Katsina, running nutrition-focused programs including two ITFCs (Inpatient Therapeutic Feeding Centres) and five ATFCs (Ambulatory Therapeutic Feeding Centres) across Katsina, Jibia, and Mashi LGAs.
Role Purpose
The Community Health Educator will prepare and deliver health education sessions, promote hygiene and disease prevention, and provide information on MSF services to improve community health and healthcare access.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily health education sessions on hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention.
- Provide information to patients/caregivers about available health services.
- Monitor community health indicators (nutrition screening, vaccination status, births, deaths, etc.).
- Identify and report urgent medical cases for referral.
- Trace absentees and defaulters from treatment programs and report findings.
- Support patients in understanding and using Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF).
- Collect and report health data weekly to supervisors.
- Assist with patient support and referrals within health facilities.
Requirements
Education:
- Diploma in Public Health, Community Health, Health Education, or related field.
Experience:
- None required (training provided).
Languages:
- Hausa and English (essential).
Skills & Competencies:
- Teamwork, flexibility, service orientation, stress management, and commitment to MSF principles.
