EWARN Surveillance Officer At Assistance Coordination Unit



Job Purpose

To assist implementing disease surveillance activities, data analysis, and capacity building of health personnel to identify potential health risks and enhance early warning surveillance systems in N. Syria.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting in implementing disease surveillance activities to ensure its uniformity and standardization in compliance with global standards.
  • Assisting in providing insight into surveillance data in N. Syria.
  • Analyzing and interpreting disease surveillance data from various sources to identify trends, patterns, and potential health risks at the national level.
  • Providing technical support and training to field EWARN teams and other health personnel to enhance their disease surveillance skills and knowledge.
  • Lead weekly, monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual EWARN meetings. Develop agendas, review surveillance data, facilitate discussions, and document meeting proceedings.
  • Monitor and supervise field EWARN teams on surveillance activities, with a strong focus on active surveillance methods. Assess surveillance performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Coordinate with field staff through regular communication channels to provide technical guidance, follow-up on surveillance activities, and troubleshoot any issues in a timely manner.
  • Review and quality assure investigation forms, line lists, and other surveillance data reports from the field teams prior to approval and finalization.
  • Identify and document surveillance challenges and discrepancies. Develop solutions and recommendations to address them.
  • Monthly report to surveillance coordinator and provide a brief analysis of the particular surveyed syndromes noted during the month.

Qualification (Education/Work Experience)

1. Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in medicine or any related field.
  • English language intermediate Level (writing, speaking, reading)
  • Arabic language Advance level (writing, speaking, reading)
  • A minimum of 2 years work experience in related field.

2. Desirable:

  • Public Health/ Epidemiology Degree.
  • 3 years’ work experience in related field.
  • 1 years INGO/NGO experience.
  • Experience in writing reporting.
