JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Field Supervision Consultant Department: Malaria & WASH

Who are we ?

Population Services International (PSI) is a leading global non-profit social marketing organization. We are a diverse group of more than 4,500 entrepreneurial development professionals in more than 35 countries, committed to empowering all people to lead healthier lives and build the families they want. PSI leverages its global presence and more than 50 years of experience to help reimagine healthcare. We work to shape market systems, shift policies and financing, and build global capabilities to better support
consumer-driven health care.

What we are looking for

From 2008 to 2017, the ACTwatch research project, led by PSI, provided the most reliable source of nationally representative market data on antimalarial and diagnostic products in 12 countries in sub-Saharan Africa and the sub-region. Great Mekong. National surveys on antimalarial product markets made it possible to collect information on the availability, price and market share of antimalarial products and RDTs. See www.actwatch.org for more information.

Supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, PSI is updating its ACTwatch model to collect new private sector market data. ACTwatch Lite, which began in late 2022, leverages a digital ecosystem to reduce fieldwork lead times and minimize the gap between the completion of fieldwork and the availability of study results. The updated results will inform national and subnational decision-making and serve as a basis for defining and monitoring private sector interventions in malaria.

We are looking for an experienced researcher to support the ACTwatch Lite project. This role will involve supervising a team of data collectors on a large and complex malaria market research project. The consultant will assist and co-lead the training of field agents, then supervise a team of field agents to test the studies and data collection in a region of Cameroon.

You will work closely with PSI’s ACTwatch Lite core team, under the supervision of the Malaria & WASH Senior Research Advisor, as well as our colleagues at ACMS (Cameroon Association for Social Marketing).

  1. Support field worker training, including classroom activities and field testing
  2. Oversee fieldwork in 1 region of Cameroon, including providing daily updates to ACMS and the ACTwatch Lite team
  3. Provide quality assurance and ensure that the highest standards of data quality and research ethics are met
  4. Potentially support the ACMS/ACTwatch Lite team in interpreting results
  5. Other tasks required on the project

  • Able to communicate complex ideas simply and effectively
  • Experience in mobile data collection (SurveyCTO, KoboCollect, ODK, etc.)
  • Computer experience (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.)
