ABOUT YOU
To excel in this role, you’ll need proven experience in leading global public health and development programs, coupled with expertise in collaboration, partnership management, and international development. Your track record of successful program management and stakeholder engagement in regions like Asia and Africa is essential. Additionally, your ability to communicate effectively at senior management levels, negotiate, and build partnerships with various agencies is crucial. Strong writing skills and a background in cross-cultural work will further contribute to your success in this position.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Head of Portfolio and Scale is accountable for supporting the Portfolio and Scale team in meeting their objectives aligned to the strategic planning, design and operational delivery of Portfolio and Scale programs that are aligned to The Foundations strategic framework. Focus on developing innovative strategies to address the key Thematic priorities identified, with a focus on the eye health workforce initially, the role is core to supporting the Portfolio and Scale Director to deliver on the organisation’s thematic priorities and ensuring the development of strategic partnerships in this approach.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead on the planning and development of a large-scale innovative concept to the challenges facing the thematic priorities, with a key focus on workforce in health.
- Working closely with the Director of Portfolio and Scale to define Foundation’s role and value-add in workforce development globally, with a focus on eye health.
- Foster partnerships with stakeholders and stay updated in industry advancements.
- Ensure that all professionals are actively engaged in the design and approach.
- Working closely with Public Affairs (PA), co – Lead on engagement with private sector partners and funders for the thematic priorities.
- Foster and drive a culture of engagement, collaboration and joint ownership across divisions and subdivisions within the organisation.
- Under the leadership of PA, develop high impact pitches and strategic communications for thematic priorities.
- Other tasks as requested by your line manager.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
- Masters in relevant field (public health, human resource planning, strategy development)
- Experience leading global public health/development programs.
- Substantial experience in collaboration and partnership management
- Strong experience in leading design and management of international development experience
- Developing innovation, creative new approaches
- Program management and stakeholder engagement in at least some of the countries, regions where the Foundation works (Asia/Africa) Excellent Communication at senior management level
- Strong negotiating and partnering experience (e.g. government, multi-lateral and other non-government agencies)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working across cultures.
