Focus on our activities in NIGER
PUI has been present in Niger since 2017, as part of its regional strategy in the Central Sahel region, since the deterioration of the security situation in the “3 borders” zone, and is implementing health programs to help assistance to vulnerable populations. Today, PUI has a coordination office in Niamey as well as two operational bases in Ouallam and Torodi, in the Tillabéri region and an operational base in Maradi. PUI’s actions in Niger, supported by BHA and the CDCS, aim to improve access to care and strengthen monitoring and alert systems, particularly community ones, while working to sustainably strengthen health structures in the region. of Tillabéri and Maradi. Our teams are strengthening the health system through support for health centers in the region and the deployment of mobile clinics to facilitate access to care.
And the Health Coordinator in all this?
As a Health Coordinator, you will be responsible for the development and application of the mission’s operational Health strategy as well as the quality of current and future Health programs in the phases definition, implementation monitoring and evaluation. You will strengthen the capacities of the mission’s Health department and provide technical support to project teams and in particular to Health project managers in a functional relationship. You will ensure the representation of PUI to authorities, humanitarian actors and donors for the health sector.
To this end, your responsibilities will be as follows:
- Context analysis / Strategy / Development: You will participate in the development of the operational Health strategy and contribute to the development of new relevant Health interventions on the mission based on the needs identified in the country, respecting the policy and the PUI health intervention framework. In coordination with the health team, you will ensure epidemiological monitoring of the country and analyze its strengths and weaknesses from a public health point of view.
- Program Quality: You will provide functional technical support in your field of expertise to the program teams, in particular to Health program managers, and will ensure the quality and effectiveness of the mission’s Health program(s).
- Representation / Coordination: You will ensure sectoral representation in Health of PUI to partners, donors, national authorities and local stakeholders. You will represent PUI in meetings of the Health Cluster or Health sector coordination group. You will contribute to the good circulation of information in the Health sector.
- Human Resources / Training: You will provide technical support to project teams and in particular to Health teams. You will provide support to project managers for the recruitment of technical personnel in Health. In collaboration with the Head of Mission (CDM) and/or the Program Assistant CDM and the Headquarters Health Referent, you will identify the main strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and gaps of the Health department . You will supervise the content of Health training and the quality of Health activities based on identified needs.
- Logistics and administration: You will ensure that the teams under your responsibility respect logistics and administrative procedures and will keep the logistics and administrative departments informed of any relevant developments.
- Security: You will contribute to compliance with security rules on the mission and transmit all information relating to security to your line manager and/or to the security manager of the mission. You will contribute when necessary to the choice of referral options for the health care of expatriates in the mission.

- Support the mission in the drafting of project proposals and possible deployment in new areas;
- Conduct assessments on new areas;
- Supervise the technical quality of projects and programs, in the design, implementation and evaluation phases;
- Support field coordinators in a functional relationship;
- Actively participate in the development of mission strategy.
What you will need to succeed
- Training: You can provide proof of a higher diploma in the medical or paramedical field. Furthermore, training in Public Health or even project management would be appreciated.
- Experience: You have at least three years of field experience in an international NGO, coordinating medical projects. Have you already held the position of Medical Coordinator or equivalent in an international NGO? This will be greatly appreciated. Have you already worked with Première Urgence Internationale? This will be an undeniable asset!
- Skills: You master humanitarian project management and team management, you have in-depth knowledge of the main donors. You have excellent writing skills.
- Required qualities: You demonstrate good interpersonal skills, ease of communication, both written and oral, and you have a taste for teamwork. You are able to work independently with initiative, demonstrate a sense of responsibility, excellent analytical skills, rigor and organization, responsiveness and adaptability. You have excellent resistance to stress and an ability to work under pressure.
- Languages: French and English have no secrets for you! So much the better, these are essential languages for this position.

PUI will offer you
- Status: Executive on a fixed-term contract
- Gross monthly salary: 2,650.00 – 3,130.00 EUR depending on your experience in international solidarity + 50€ per semester of seniority with PUI

- Break regime: 5 working days at 3 and 9 months of mission + break bonus
