Are you a licensed medical doctor specialising in Paediatrics and Infectious Diseases willing to deploy to help support UK-Med in outbreak emergency responses in a humanitarian context?

UK-Med is a frontline medical aid charity. Born of the British National Health Service, we’ve been working for over 30 years towards a world where everyone has the healthcare they need when crises or disasters hit.

As UK-Med continues to strengthen its outbreak response capacity and preparedness for potential programming in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and other humanitarian contexts, we are seeking Infectious Diseases Medical Doctors to join our Register. While this is a Register position, we will prioritise candidates with immediate or near-term availability to support our Ebola outbreak response activities in the DRC should deployment requirements arise. We will also prioritise applicants from those who speak French.

Successful candidates will have experience working in paediatric infectious diseases and outbreak settings, ideally within humanitarian, low-resource or emergency response environments. Register members are expected to be available to travel and work internationally at short notice, typically for deployments of around 6 weeks, although longer availability would be highly desirable.

Our ideal candidates will be fully licensed and experienced Paediatric Infectious Diseases Medical Doctors with the clinical expertise required to support the management of infectious diseases affecting children in complex humanitarian settings. This may include providing specialist clinical care, supporting outbreak preparedness and response activities, advising on infection prevention and control measures, contributing to clinical protocols and guidelines, and working alongside local healthcare teams to strengthen paediatric infectious disease management.

You will be determined, high performing, compassionate and collaborative, as well as being committed to learning and supporting others to learn. Language skills will be an advantage.
