Fiji Program Support Facility

The Fiji Program Support Facility (the Facility) was established in 2017 to support and implement Australia’s aid programs such as health, education, emergency preparedness and response and governance in Fiji. The Facility also supports the Australia Awards in Fiji and Tuvalu. The Facility integrates cross-cutting themes, including gender equality, disability and social inclusion, climate change and disaster risk reduction, across sectoral programs. In particular, the Facility seeks to strengthen program outcomes by better addressing the needs of targeted beneficiaries including those who are often marginalised.

Australia’s support to Fiji’s Health Sector (referred to as the “Fiji Health Program” or FHP) works in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS) to:

  • Reform public health services to provide a population-based approach for disease and the climate crisis.
  • Increase access to quality, safe and patient focused clinical services; and
  • Drive efficient & effective management of the health system.

Key responsibilities

  • The position will provide support to strengthen the capacity of MHMS to provide disability inclusive services.
  • The position will assist in staff training and development and work towards improved inclusive standards of practice.
  • It will also be expected that the position provide effective administration to advocate for, identify and monitor disability inclusive practices in the health system.

Selection criteria

  • At least eight (8) years proven experience within Fiji’s health services.
  • Experience developing and delivering improved standards of health services.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training.
  • Practical understanding and ability to apply good practice and contextual approaches to disability inclusion.
  • Experience in disability stakeholder and civil society engagement in Fiji.
  • Experience of living with a disability is highly desirable and we encourage people with disabilities to apply.
