Under the Health and Gender Support Project (HGSP) and in collaboration with the Non-Communicable Disease Control (NCDC) program, DGHS and the World Health Organization (WHO), The Maternal and Child Health Division of icddr,b is going to implement a project to Strengthen the Implementation of Non-Communicable Disease Control and Prevention Programs in all the Upazilas of Cox’s Bazar District and Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMNs) in the refugee camps of Cox’s Bazar. icddr,b in close collaboration with other stakeholders will introduce a Supportive Supervision system for basic NCD services in all DGHS-supported health facilities, and in some selected primary health care facilities situated in FDMN camps of Cox’s Bazar.
The Project Research Physician will report to the Assistant Scientist. The position holder will be responsible for planning, organizing and implementing research to conduct high-quality research within the guidelines of the SOP and organizational values. S/he will be involved in–
- Maintain continuous collaboration with local UH&FPOs, RMOs, Civil Surgeon office of Cox’s Bazar as a local contact for relevant project activities;
- Maintain liaison with the other government and non-government stakeholders;
- Conduct monthly visits to the Upazila Health Complexes, Union Sub Centers and FDMN camps, etc.
- Collect relevant data from the assigned facility;
- Spot visit to Union Sub Centers and Community Clinics when required;
- Manage and guide field staff for programmatic field activities and field site preparation;
- Attend monthly meetings related to NCD in the Upazila Health Complex (UHC) and Civil Surgeon (CS) office;
- Assist in logistics and medicine supply and timely stock requisition;
- Organize/participate in orientation programs related to project objectives;
- Assist/Provide support in conceptual insights to statisticians for data analysis;
- Resolve any queries and escalate appropriate issues to seniors/supervisors.
Required qualifications and experience:
- MBBS degree from a Medical College recognized by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC);
- 1 year of experience in a relevant field. However, candidates having experience in Facility-based data collection, verbal autopsy, NCD management model and WHO-PEN would be given preference;
- Being able to understand and speak in local dialect will be an added advantage.

Contract Type and Duration:
- Short-Term Contractual Service Agreement; duration will be 3 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.
Salary & benefits:
- Tk. 60,220/-Â (consolidated) per month inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances.
- Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
